This review is for the customer service and not the actual food quality. I went there for lunch with a friend at 11.10 am and we were told to be seated by ourself. We ended up in a booth and waited for the waiter to take our order. After 5 minutes, we were told that the lunch specials are not available that day hence we ordered chicken satay and pad-kee-mao to share. We waited for more than 20 minutes for our order and to our surprise we just got the chicken satay after 20 minutes. We completed the appetizer but we didn't get the main course that we ordered even after 35 minutes. I checked with the waiter and she told me that the food is still not ready but she can pack it for to go after 5 minutes. I politely declined the offer and asked her to cancel the order of our main course as it was getting late for the meeting. To my surprise, the other waiter in the restaurant got so angry and said she cannot cancel the order and forced us to take the food in the to-go box. She was so adamant to take the food with us in to-go container and pay for it even though they made us wait for 40 minutes without serving the main course. We finally ended up paying for both the appetizer and the main course. We learnt the hard lesson and we have made a point to never visit this restaurant again. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone due to the arrogant and rude...
Read moreStopped by yesterday to grab take-out while I ran to the Reilly's in the same complex and the place was super charming. They had my take-out ready by the time I dropped supplies in my car and both items exactly met my expectations. (Though I wish they did not cut the tofu fresh-rolls at such a severe angle, it's visually striking but it made them difficult to eat)
Today I went back to get the dish that I measure Thai restaurants by: Pineapple fried rice. It's my favorite! The blend of savory, sweet and spicy is magic to my mouth! and a bland pineapple fried rice is (for me) a really bad sign.
Lucky for Zab Thai, their Pineapple friend rice was awesome. It was flavorful, had the perfect texture and was served piping hot. Add to that the ambiance and server, who was pleasant and attentive, they get a 5-star review from me.
I do have one complaint, but it's a common one in the area: their spice scale errs on the side of mild in a big way. I ordered 4-stars/5. When I tasted the rice I thought the server must have mis-heard me and written down two-stars by accident so I checked when she brought the check. That was the 4. Guess I'll order the 5...
Read moreIt has been a while since I have dined here because of the recent Herald Everett news that the owner was cheating on the tax sales and not properly charging customers the right sales tax . However, a couple of friends and I had lunch there. We were seated, we were asked what we wanted to eat. When our food arrived, the rice was soggy, over cooked. We were never asked what we would like to drink, we had to ask. The guy who was assisting us stopped by once. He never came back to see if everything was fine. We did not say anything, this comes to show how much of an effort you really put in your customer service. When we paid, he straight up asked why we weren't tipping him 15% percent, and that next time, just order the food to go, so disrespectful. He was arguing with us for a couple of minutes. First of all, it is not an obligation to tip, it is complimentary. I do not have a problem with tipping the correct amount, but if your customer service was poor then don't expect the full amount.
If you go eat there, make sure to tip more than 15% even if their customer service is poor. That is their point of view. I wonder how the...
