Recommended by someone we know, Avocados is the best traditional Mexican restaurant we’ve found in the greater Everett area. We visited on a summer Saturday evening, and had a great time. The menu prices seemed to be a few dollars higher than other Mexican restaurants in the area, but we found their across-the-board quality to more than justify it.
Food: With a name like Avocados, we couldn’t pass up the avocado shake. It was tasty, but we couldn’t really taste the avocado, which makes sense because avocado seems like more a texture than a flavor. Next time we’ll have to try the avocado ice cream. Grandma’s chicken mole was quite good and the semi-sweet mole sauce certainly had a homemade rather than store-bought taste. The Mexican short ribs were sublime - not in need of any slathering of sauce for cover-up, these were perfectly tender and flavorful on their own, true perfection. For dessert, the lava cake was molten and well-complimented by the ice cream with a small dollop of whipped cream on top.
Service: We were warmly greeted, and shown a table. Wait staff stopped by quickly with chips and salsa, and then regularly checked in at appropriate intervals - the wait staff worked well together, making the overall mood even friendlier. Our waiter made sure we were well taken care of throughout dinner. When we left, the host staff at the entrance made it a point to thank us for visiting.
Atmosphere: The mood inside was overall cheerful and joyous. While we dined, boisterous versions of happy birthday were sang several times to different tables by the staff with the obligatory Mexican restaurant sombrero passed around to embarrass the birthday folk. The only thing that would have made it better would have been hearing Las Mañanitas.
Ambiance: Clean outside and in, we appreciated that the interior was floor to ceiling wood paneled, with high ceilings, decorative paintings on the walls (including one of avocados, of course), wood-decorated lighting, and tables and seating to match. Like the parking lot outside, though most tables were occupied, there was enough seating available inside the restaurant that we didn’t need to wait.
Parking - the lot around the restaurant is as full as you would expect from a popular restaurant, but not so full that it was difficult to find a space, at least on the night we visited. There are enough people regularly entering and leaving the restaurant that the lot felt secure and safe.
While we didn’t see it listed in the menu, the bill came with a small, reasonable surcharge for credit card use, amounting to about 3%. It clearly listed the bill in cash and the bill if a credit card was used. Similarly, the listed recommended gratuities on the bill were all reasonable, with a recommended gratuity of 18, 20, or 22%.
Overall, five stars across the board, and an excellent value — we can see why this restaurant is so popular, and look forward to try more of...

Where is all the servers who used to work here for the last 5 years? I saw one of them working for the Keg now, and stated he needed more hours so he had to leave. I used to come here 3-4 times a week, all the servers know me, they all know what I order, every time. Today, some new guy was my server. I also noticed that it is all new servers and new hosts. I placed my same order, carne asada with water, it is not complicating, I came alone. Server seemed upset that I did not want alcohol, I dont drink alcohol. The server gave me a plate with rice and veggies I did not order. He returned with shrimp I did not order. I asked again for Carne Asada and he came with some fajitas. I gave up after repeating my double beef carne asada order 8-10 times. The atmosphere was not positive, no one was greeting me or happy to see me. The only reason I come here is because the servers are happy to see me every time. I have no family to eat with and I work alone for myself, pretty lonely lifestyle, so coming here to see people who remember me and are actually happy to see me is the highlight of my week. I drive past 7 other mexican restaurants in Lynnwood to come here in Everett for the positive experience, not for the average quality food. The servers love me because I tip them $100 every time I come, just ask any of them about Ryan with the huge Ram show trucks, they all know me and my big trucks. They always ask me how I am doing and about my life. Today was the worst experience I have ever had. Where is all the servers and hosts that were working here for the last 5 years? Why is everyone working today not in a good mood what happened here? I just got up and left because they cant get my simple order correct. Terribly...
Read moreFood was ok. Not authentic at all. Its overpriced for the quality, taste and portions. The plate was hot but my food was not. It was $60 (two adults)for basically taco bell with TVs. The waiter wasn't busy but didn't know what he as doing. He brought salsa and spilled it on the table, my plate and on me and forgot to bring me more. I had to remind him. I had to clean up the mess. They are really stingy with their chips and salsa. They looked offended when we asked for more like it was coming out of their money. Not our fault the place was empty and it didn't make sense they couldn't serve us. I'm not impressed at all. It was my second time in since it opened. I went when it first opened and knew their food was poor quality. I knew I shouldn't have gone in but my boyfriend is new to the area and asked his friends where to take me. I would never have chosen there. My niece ordered me over 100 worth of food for Mothers Day since I broke my foot and was in the nursing home. She had my daughter pick it up for me. I ate beans and rice, chips and salsa and one carne asada taco. It was trash. The other food was horrible. If I knew my niece was ordering me food, I would have suggested somewhere else. She has never eaten there before. I rather eat Taco Time then to eat at Avocados. You are not missing anything if you haven't been here before. I wouldn't suggest you eat here if you are looking for good quality Mexican food for a good price....
