We arrived with great anticipation, ( There was my 5 yr old , me and my wife ) the door greeter asked us if we would like to sit at the bar, when we said no we have a 5 year old and they cant sit at the bar, she than said well then what do you want.. We said we would like to eat dinner . to which her reply was ( oh im vary confused ) and she then sat us down in the dining room . ( its not like we were dressed like bums i was in a suit jacket, wife in a evening garment ... Anyhow nothing to crazzy going on yet we just thought wow that was strange.. so on to the rest of the evening..
we ordered the breaded mushrooms, sample platter, and french onion soup,( late night snack).. The Mushrooms were good ( not steak house good- But applebees good ) the sample platter was also good ... The Soup was not to our liking and kinda cold.. The bread they give you is just texas toast with garlic butter ( expected more from a steak house ) but it was also just ok ....
Anyhow we did not eat our soups as they were quite bad, the waitress asked us if we would like something else we said no thanks as the food is not what we were expecting...
She got vary upset at that point( you could see it on her face but she said nothing ) So so far everything is fine
,, She then brought us our bill which included the soups that we did not eat due to there issues... we asked the waitress if she could remove the soup as we did not eat them.
And now comes the part that turned our evening into a nightmare and the reason I am writing this review.
( A little context on this next section ) when she first dropped off our food and we tasted our mushroom appetizer she asked us how everything was and we said it was fine.. we had not tried the soup or anything at this point.
ok back to the bill
So when I asked her about the soup and said we did not eat it as it had issues , she then says to me ( you should have told me you didn't like it when I asked you the first time and since you didnt say anything then that is why you are paying for it) To which i replied Im sorry but we had not tried the soup at that point but as soon as we did we let you know..
at this point she starts getting vary mouthy and we then asked for the manager, and we said can you send him out please ( she says its a women thank you -- snarky ) Now I am losing my cool and tell her to just send the manager out NOW, she made some more smart ass comments and left the table ,, the manager came out and was equally as rude asking us exactly what was wrong with the soup and if we just didnt like it because of the flavor that we would have to pay for it.. ( my wife took one bite and spit it into her napkin ) ... We explained to her that the soup was not good and several reasons way , and that the other food was ok and we just wanted to be on our way.. They really did not want to accommodate us at all and were vary rude about this entire thing...
I have to say of all the years I have been eating out I have never had a wait staff so rude..
So on that note I would not recommend this place to anyone, The food is not in the price range they are charging , if we are comparing this to restaurants like The KEG, Ruths Chris, this would be a 1 star in comparison so if you are looking for steakhouse quality this is not it.... If we are comparing this place to ( the country buffet , red robin it would get a 3 maybe 4 star ) so if your looking for good high end food...
Read moreFood is great, service is terrible! like the worst! you walk in and there is no waiting area, you just stand around until someone decides to notice you after walking past you many times. The older dark haired waitress is just rude and has a tone in her voice that is not needed in a customer service environment. We waited 20min for drinks my wife asked the dark haired waitress that was changing a table cloth if we could please get our drinks and she snapped back that there is a party of 40 in the back and they are going as fast as they can. obviously if you are changing a table cloth you can go get my drinks... also we were out of water and an the waitress left an empty pitcher on our table.
to the response below - this kind of attitude can be seen in all of the new owners Matthew and Angel goeringâs responses to less than favorable reviews both on here and on Facebook reviews, very unprofessional and a poor reflection of their community. again proof that customer service and a kind bed side manor is clearly not something that your business prides yourself on. i have spent many hundreds of dollars at your establishment over the last 2 weeks, driven an hour each way to and from Everson for your food. but you have lost my business for good due to your response below. I don't care if she wasn't our waitress, customer service is a group effort and you work in a team work environment. Clearly there is a need for better management and possibly ownership because these kind of issues start at the top and that's where they get corrected, but with a response like the one below its clear that management isn't running this business, just your over...
Read moreDisappointing. We've been coming to this restaurant for 20 years and I've always described them as being the best steak house in Whatcom County. Unfortunately that has changed. I had the bar steak. My wife got the weiner schnitzel and we ordered the escargots for an appetizer. The escargots have always been our favorite, but they were completely different than what we've had in the past. They were even different from what was described in the menu. They used to be in a very tasty butter sauce with a crispy puff pastry over each escargots. The type of sauce that you want to soak up every drop with the yummy bread. This time they were smothered in some type of cheese sauce. The entire plate was covered with cheese sauce and the puff pastry was buried underneath and soggy. Not good. My steak was cooked as I asked but not the quality of past visits. It was mushy and chewy. My wife's schnitzel was tasty but don't put the compote on top of the schnitzel. It should be on the side. All it did was make the schnitzel mushy. Finally, her green beans were like spaghetti noodles. The taste was good but just a pile of mush. The potatoes were good but they used to be thinly sliced potatoes. Now they are more like cubed. Still taste great, I just prefer them sliced like scalloped potatoes. They hold their firmness better. I'm not trying to live in the past, but I do feel things have gone downhill a bit. I know this review will be frowned upon because the restaurant is a county favorite. I'm just being honest, and maybe they were just having a rough...
