Upon entering Estia Taverna, the receptionist greeted us with a big friendly smile. This was really nice and inviting. We were then introduced to the table host who would seat us. She had tattoos on her arms and feet, in addition to a nose ring. Extremely unprofessional. In that type of role, a table host must look and act that part, as she represents the business. The tattoos should have been covered up, and the nose ring needs to come out while on the job!
At first, everything seemed to be fantastic once we sat down. The server came over to the table within a minute or two, was extremely friendly and explanatory, and took our drink and food orders. Our drinks and appetizers came, and they were great.
Then things changed...
It took another 10-15 minutes for our entrees to arrive, delivered by another waiter. After tasting everything, our main courses needed salt and pepper. There was no table check by our server for another 7-8 minutes or so, which is entirely too long. She finally came over to ask how everything was and we asked for salt and pepper... but by this time, we were almost done eating.
A few minutes later, another server came by and said he was training the original female server we had who seemed to have disappeared, as we no longer saw her. He was very friendly, but by that time we were already very disappointed.
Our original server was still nowhere in sight anywhere.... did she go to dinner? Was she on the phone? Where was she?
The portions seemed to be slightly small. I'm glad we were served bread first.
After another 15-20 minutes, we saw our original server waiting on the table next to us. She never came by our table again to check on us. Really disappointing.
We wound up leaving a less than average tip for the unsatisfactory service. We hope they got the message and improve their...
Read moreI’d been here once before as well as to the Philadelphia location which I also loved. I couldn’t, in good conscience, come another time without leaving a review.
I don’t have Greek food that often and am not well educated in Greek cuisine. I do love Greek food a lot and haven’t really found a bad Greek restaurant. However, this place is amazing. Very friendly and attentive service off the bat. Welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Tons of warm, cozy lighting and very nice woodwork inside. There is a full bar with a wide range and variety of liquor, wine and beer. There are also many “mocktails” available for non-alcoholic drinks, which can be customized with any alcohol of your choice, if you so desire. Be careful, though. The mocktails’ flavor mask the taste of any alcohol added and can potentially become dangerous.
I came on a Sunday night with my fiancée and her mother. COVID has made for a very comfortable dining experience. There was ample space between parties and the noise was at a negligible level. Our waiter was fine, although he kept repeatedly forgetting our pita, which was no issue to me once I ate it. We each ordered two cocktails, grilled octopus, Estia chips (like potato chips, only made from eggplant and served with tzatziki sauce), lamb shank and moussaka. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. The chefs and interior designers hold this place together very well.
I will be back and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice dining experience. Also, please visit the Philadelphia location if you’re ever in that area. One of the most beautiful restaurants...
Read moreThis past Friday evening my husband and I joined another couple for a 6:30 reservation at Estia Marlton. The server was lovely, I think her name was Bethany. The restaurant was very busy and loud and no open tables were visible. My husband and I each ordered the sangria, we’ve had it several times before, always tasty and refreshing. It arrived very watered down in a rocks glass instead of a wine glass. It took quite a while for our cocktails to arrive. We drank it, it was cold! It was of very poor quality! Rather then complain or make a fuss we went on with our dining. Appetizers, Greek salad and the halibut for our entree. We ordered a second glass of sangria. Approximately 10 minutes later a manager came to our table and reported, “they’ve run out of sangria” so we ordered Tito’s and club soda with an orange slice. Our Tito’s and club arrived, again tasting poorly and not refreshing at all, very watered down. Tito’s and club or tonic is unusually our cocktail of choice. Again rather then complain to the server we suffered through it! My complaint is this, don’t charge $11.00 a drink for drinks that are watered down because you’re trying to stretch your profits! When we go out I want a proper drink of whatever it is I order. We were annoyed by this experience. I know from previous experiences at this Estia, there is only one bartender and they need to service bar patrons and all the servers! It is a bit much for one person when it’s busy, it’s...
