I was there today and I was not impressed. I’ve been to many bagel shops, some of which are far better than this location. I have been to this one a couple times though, because my father actually liked them, but I can promise that none of my family will set foot in that store again.
The first couple times the two gentlemen that I spoke to were actually very nice and I have nothing against the ones that are actually upstanding citizens that work there. My problem lies with what happened today, one of the associates there was nothing but rude to me, she had the audacity to say that if you don’t have the money, don’t come here? And I promptly said I do have it. I just don’t like the fact that they change the prices three different times for the same items on 3 different occasions.
I did not find out until early afternoon what they have done to my mother’s breakfast. They actually wrapped the eggs around the utensils. I know that they may think that it’s funny but it’s not. That is a lawsuit waiting to happen. My mother is in the hospital. She has a heart condition and I was trying to bring her breakfast because some of the foods there she can’t have because of her diabetes, food restrictions, and other problems. I hope they are proud of themselves because they could’ve...
Read moreI live about as far from Voorhees as one can get without leaving the lower 48. I'm in Washington state, on the Puget Sound, up by the Canadian border. People know what bagels are there but they're clueless about what they're supposed to be.
Having grown up in New York, from a Jewish family, I know bagels like the back of my hand. I know a bad bagel from a good one from a great one. When I'm in the Philadelphia region, I've come to expect good but not great bagels. Until yesterday, when I went for the first time to Rey's. Ordered a bagel with cream cheese and lox with capers and I felt like I was back in my family home, 50+ years ago, on a Sunday morning after my dad returned from the Kosher deli with bagels, lox, cream cheese and pickled herring.
Good luck finding pickled herring anymore but Rey makes great bagels. Truly great ones. Plus the quality of the other ingredients is excellent. He pays attention to the details and it shows up in the final result.
Rey and I got to talking and he's a heck of a nice guy too. I come to Voorhees every few months, as my wife and I help care for her aging dad. When I'm here in the future, each and every trip will include...
Read moreI always thought Rey's Bagel was great...I loved their breakfast and lunch selections..always fresh..no complaints...Until my recent visit..It was a whole different story...First of all..I got a birthday savings coupon by text and planned to use it as well as purchase a dozen bagels but I was told that they no longer accept them.." Well if you don't then why did I receive it just a couple days ago"..anyway.. I ordered a breakfast with 2 eggs over hard and a toasted bagel with turkey bacon...My eggs came out way over easy and my bagel wasn't even toasted..the bacon wasn't cooked ..it tasted rubbery.. also the meal was just barely warm..I wanted to have them heat it up but the music was so loud it made it very uncomfortable to just sit and relax..I chose not to so I didn't have to deal with another long wait....I had no condiments on my table so I had to search the place to get them from other unoccupied tables..I'm sorry I was not impressed this time..Very disappointed and probably will...
