We regularly made the trip to the langhorne location & always enjoyed the seafood - it was always fresh. It’s a bit pricey but money isn’t an issue to me for good food. So when the one in Ewing opened and only 15min away from where we live - we were super excited.
We get there just in time to beat the crowd, to where we were greeted and asked to check our temperatures. We then put hand sanitizer on & were seated at our table. The environment was very clean & nicely decorated.
Our server greeted us, took our drink order & we put in four appetizers. We always order appetizers for our two children (4&7) and they share instead of getting them food they cannot finish. The waitress informed us the wings were cooked fresh so it would be a longer wait. No problem at all, we were out to enjoy each other & in no rush.
The girls enjoyed the garlic butter noodles, the egg rolls were great & the mozzarella sticks were ok - I’m not a fan of cold sauce. Room temperature would have even been better if not heated. Especially for the price that was charged.
After the aps were dropped off - our order was taken. I ordered the create your own catch with king crab legs & a side of sausage. My husband order the seafood sliders & my kiddos were waiting on their wings. At this point we needed some refills & let our server know after we placed our order. She gladly let us know she would be right back.
Food comes out in batches because they were busy (no big deal). My seafood came out, along wi the wings & my husband’s came out shortly after. At that point now my husband also needed a refill & we still did not have ours. So I reminded her again & she got them immediately. She was super nice, just had too much on her plate all at once (I think they need more staff).
While munching on my potatoes & corn, I noticed we didn’t have any napkins (remind you - I got CRAB lol messy) & I did not have any crackers to get the meat out of the shell. We were also given plastic utensils which in my opinion is so silly. I get it - covid but like come on, I’m eating king crab legs.. the sharp shell is hard enough to deal with let alone work with only crackers & a plastic fork. So we asked the nice bus boy if he could bring us napkins & some crackers. I was only given a handful of small napkins lol I was a mess haha no big deal though.
In the midst of all of this & my four year old needing to use the bathroom - I look over at my oldest daughter who is KILLING her bone in wings. She enjoys them plain as Jane without anything on them so I had to do a double take - PINK, bloody & not just blood stained like sometimes happens with wings - dripping blood like a rare piece of steak... 😳 I immediately was worried and told my husband when he got back from the bathroom because I was praying maybe he would say they were done and ok - nope, he was so disappointed.
The server came over, apologized & told her manager. I started on my seafood. I was not impressed at all. The seafood was not fresh & a king crab hardly had any meat - you know what that means.. it’s not any good sigh 😔 I really hope I do not get sick. My husband ate one of his sliders & told me it was not fish but in fact, chicken lol and was not that good.
The manager came over & was extremely nice. He took the wings off the check, gave us a 20% discount due to the wings being extremely undercooked. He also gave us a gift card, which was extremely thoughtful & nice but unfortunately I do not think we will be back. I’m not even sure I want to go to the other location now. Super sad because this was one of my favorite...
Read moreMy wife and I have been to Crab Du Jour in Ewing NJ may times during Covid. We have lived in the town for over 20 years. The last time we dined at CDJ we brought our own wine, which was allowed because the bar was closed. We just went back tonight. Not knowing the bar was open we brought our own wine. We were not told before we were seated that we could not bring alcohol into the restaurant. We asked the waitress to bring us some ice and glasses for our wine. She informed us she was supposed to only allow alcohol from the bar. However, she said since it's not posted anywhere and we were not told before we were seated that we couldn't bring alcohol into the restaurant, she would provide glasses and ice for our wine. Unfortunately, she came back a few minutes later and informed us that the manager said we couldn't open and drink our wine. I went to the front of the restaurant to ask the manager how we were supposed to know we couldn't bring alcohol into the restaurant if we were not told as we entered. No signs posted and the waitress said we could initially. The manager, a younger lady that appeared to be the age of a daughter of mine. Never addressed me as a appreciated customer. It felt as if I was bother her. She was abrupt as she addressed me. She said it was illegally for her to allow me to bring alcohol into the restaurant. I think CDJ needs to a better job informing their customers they do not allow alcohol to be brought into the restaurant. Drinks at a small discount would have been appreciated or just an apology for the lack of information on their part. I received nothing but an attitude as if I should be happy they allowed me in the door. I have been coming to this establishment since it was The Parkside Diner. I have options and won't ever come back. Thank you Unappreciated long...
Read moreI came here yesterday and it was horrible. The service was terrible. The place was empty. Asked for a refill 3 times before I got it. Asked for a side of the sauce when initially placing my order. It never came, asked waiter again after receiving food, 15min later it never came. Then Asked the white lady at front desk because our waiter didn't say anything. Again it took about another 15min to get the sauce. Food was cold by the time it came. Ordered the 2 seafood boils for $106 and the sauce was nothing but butter (reson why i order sides, which i got charged for). No seasoning in it. Got the Dujor sauce and it was just red butter with no flavor AT ALL. Also 1 pound of the black muscles and about 75% of them we're closed and not open after cooking, and that means you don't eat them. Very disappointing for the money spent. And I dont know about our waiter, but something was not right. Horrible experience and will not return.
