Let me start off my saying Mama Flora's had always been my favorite place to eat in the area. I'd probably give a solid 4.5 for pizza places had it not been for this past encounter.
Having said that, it's upsetting when you order food and you had your hopes up just to be super let down. I'd previously gotten a calzone from there and it was amazing. So I ordered a large calzone from like 5 mins away omw home. They said 20 mins. I showed up. They waited like 10 minutes before they realized they weren't cooking what I was waiting on. So about 35 mins go by and I finally pay 15 dollars for it. I walk out to my car and my car starts to smell weird. I take a look at it and it's nearly black on the top. I picked at it and all the way down to the cheese was just a doughless crunch. Rarely am I ever upset enough to return food. It is very possible that people enjoy their calzone very crispy, I don't know. If so, I'm sorry. I would have rather spent 15 dollars on some Ramen noodles. I was polite as possible and applogized for not wanting it, despite the fact that it was for obvious reasons (to me), and I really got the vibe that I was an ass hole, as embarassing as it already was, for returning it. Despite having asked if they wanted me to cook them something else, which was nice, I still feel like the only appology that I got was not even close to honest. I'm very upset. I wish they were more understanding and handled the situation better...
Read moreI was blown away by this unassuming place. It is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, and I only found it from a recommendation. Our service was excellent, the selection was huge, and the food was great! The prices may seem high, but not for what you get- they are generous, sharable portions of EXCELLENT food. We went there for a business meeting and it was perfect- the food was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing.
We shared the jerk lamb lollipops (and we all wanted to fight over them, but were being polite). I had the Chicken Amari and it was fantastic. My friend had a panini, but it wasn't a dried up thing, it was so fresh and yummy. (We both had generous leftovers, and we were very full!) Everyone was happy with their meal. The Tiramiso we shared was really good.
Their menu is really full- We didn't try the pizza, but with the fresh ingredients in our meals, it is probably really good. I also see they have a big selection of burgers, chicken fingers, fries and wings, so they fit many palates and tastes. Such a good find! My friend and I...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem located in the shoprite plaza of Ewing NJ. It seems most of the time reviews are left to bring attention to something that was wrong or not enjoyable by the person dining, and not enough for when things go right. I’ve been visiting this pizzeria quite often on my lunch breaks over the last 4 months or so, and a couple things stand out to me after thinking about it this afternoon, is that not only does this place make terrific pizza, you could drag your finger with your eyes closed all across the menu and wherever it stops, whatever it is would be delicious. And second, the hospitality and genuine kindness that the managers and employees have is second to none compared to just about anywhere you go these days, everybody that walks through Mama Floras gets treated like a king or a queen and to top it off your getting great food that you can tell was made with love and care....
