The ambiance is nice. There wasn't any music and the cook's music was soft enough for guest to relax, which is good after a long day of hiking The decor is a mix of the Sequoia National Park and Mexican culture. It is family friendly and wheelchair accessible. The food was below average Tex-Mex, definitely NOT "authentic" Mexican Cuisine. The chips were a mix of chili & salt and plain. The salsa and chips were just ok. Shrimp Cocktail was prepared with shrimp cooked in plain water and add catsup and other ingredients. My husband didn't like it. The fish taco was bland - it had no taste, the same with the green salsa on it. The tortillas used for the taco were stiff/hard. I ordered the green chili, dinner combination. I didn't like any of it. I really tried to keep an open mind, but it wasn't good. I did like the "agua fresca" de jamaica, but I think it was prepared from powder mix. They have. Outdoor dinning and the whole place is wheelchair accesible, but tables are average height. Definitely...

2018 Update We come here every year since 2011. The food is really good, the service is strange and slow.

Salsa, not too spicy but fresh, some of the best Ive had.

I ended up getting the trio, way too much food, tried to finish it all becuase it was so good.

Chili Reyeno, enchilada, burrito... cheese meat sauce and yummmmmm

we were in a group of about ten people and everyone loved the food. The waitress was kinda not around and the kid who got our drinks implied that the food wasnt authentic/ good.... theres other weird interactions every time we come

Food is good though!

2016

We come up to Sequoia every year. Casa Mendoza is one of the spots we like to eat.

There arent a lot of choices but at least you can byob here.

The food is decent and the staff is friendly though this weekend our server was over the top to the point of being slightly obnoxious.

The service can take a while so dont be in a hurry.

Good for groups if its...

We went without expectations because food close to national parks are rarely good, its main purpose in my opinion is to fill the stomach. Service here was really good. Servers were attentive. Outdoor seating is really nice and soothing. Food: Salsa that came with chips is either canned or jarred. May be a hint of some fresh tomatoes mixed. Fajita plate was advertised to have mushroom and Zucchini. My plate came with 3 slices of mushroom penny size, few sprinkles of Zucchini penny size, and remaining plate was filled with undercooked bell peppers and lots of onions. Veggies tasted fresh at least so that was good. Beans also tasted and felt canned texture. Veggie burrito was weird, it had everything from veggie fajita. Burrito wrap also tasted stale. Rice was also stale and dry. The problem is there aren't many options around, so we might still end up here in future but I'm hoping we are more prepared so we don't have to.

Three Rivers doesn't have a ton of eating options so was glad to find Mexican food that wasn't high-priced. Salsa/chips were fine. My chicken chimichanga was a good size. I would have preferred more spicy seasoning, but I'm imagining the other clients might not. Refried beans were nice and tasted authentic. Our first server started out attentive but then disappeared. Also she didn't know anything about the premium beers, so I recommend going inside and pick your own. The Chardonnay was not good. A different server brought the bill and did not come back. We paid inside (which might be the protocol?). Sitting outside in late September was pleasant however the view of the distance foot hill is preceeded by a storage shipping container and garage containers.
