Very dissatisfied. Both the food and service were just bad. We ordered wings, pizza, breadsticks, and some Italian Wedding soup.
Wings - They were tiny and over cooked. We also usually request "all flats" when ordering wings and happily pay the restraunt's upcharge. I decided to roll the dice and not even ask the standoffish waitress about all flats so I just ordered. Big mistake, 7 of 8 wings were dried up drumsticks. So basically we got 1 flat out of 8 wings. I decided this was my "once every ten years situation" where I can communicate my disappointment with my order to the waitress. We explained we usually order all flats...and only getting 1 flat after spending $12 is not acceptable. Her response was cold, unaccomadating, and unwilling to remedy the situation. She basically said "the people in the kitchen do their best" and offered no solution/compromise. So after my blue cheese finally came out (after requesting for 2nd, 3rd time) I unhappily tried the wings.
Service - See above + all of our food came out at different times. Wings, then blue cheese, then breadsticks, then Pizza, then soup. C'mon. This place wasn't even at 1/2 capacity. Timing is important especially when you're trying to feed two 4 year Olds. THANKS for making my dining experience more difficult because it easier for YOU to send items out from your kitchen as they are completed.
Food - I get it, a lot of people like this pizza....they certainly have a "style" Only problem is I call this style subpar and an attempt to shakedown you customers. I should not have to spend an additional $3 for a "premium topping" called extra cheese for you to put the required amount of cheese on a pizza. A large pie should get 9 +/-ounces of cheese. Google it. Breadsticks, 4 tiny breadsticks about 2" each in lenght...The soup was good and the bottles of beer were cold. That's it. Kids menu...non existent...
All of this coupled with the, "we only take cash...there's the ATM" paints the picture of a "restaurant" that has adopted the mission statement of.... let's get everything $$ out of the customers we can. Add 3% to your prices...take debit cards...send the food all out at once. Use reusable plates...not paper...this place operates like a late night by the slice college town pizza shop but also wants you to come in order $6 beers, then give a subpar food for restaurant prices on a paper plate with horrible service.
I've been here twice over the last year and we won't be going back. I'm not going to give business to any place with such an overt shakedown of...
Read moreSabatini’s Pizza on Wyoming Avenue in Exeter, Pennsylvania is a family-owned restaurant that’s been around for 55 years. In addition to pizza, the venue also served soups and salads, wings, and subs. The place is popular among the local population and has a sprawling dining room with a bar and outdoor seating.
We arrived on a Friday evening around 6:45 and could not get an indoor table. We were offered a seat at the bar or a table outside. Despite the cool-ish weather, we opted for the latter, which was disappointing. The patio sits just off Wyoming Avenue, which had heavy traffic, forcing us to use our outside a voice a little louder to be heard. Additionally, there was hardly any outdoor lighting, leaving us to eat mainly in the dark.
Despite the heavy crowd, the service was great, and we were attended to fairly quickly by a pleasant gentleman. Although you can tell he was very busy, he did not seem the least bit frazzled, and kept an amiable attitude. All told, we waited approximately 20-25 minutes before our large pepperoni pizza reached our table.
The pizza itself was underwhelming. The pepperoni was not sliced, but rather sprinkled on the pizza in tiny morsels. The underlying crust was thin, dry, and bland, with a rather burnt taste which took away from the cheese and sauce flavors. The thin pizza and the cool weather made the pie rather unenjoyable, and by the time we were halfway through our meal, the cheese was cold and gritty.
Sabatini’s is also known for their vast selection of beer and spirits, and is a beer lover’s dream. I ordered a Brasserie Dupont Saison Farmhouse Ale, which was very delicious, a rather sweet ale that held a nice head throughout. I will definitely come back to take an extended gander at Sabatin’s selection and buy a six-pack (or two, or three). The beer coolers sit alongside a long wall inside, and one can buy even more beer located on nearby stands/shelving.
Sadly, I will not be back for the pizza. Although the restaurant obviously has its followers, I didn’t find it particularly appealing. With an overwhelming abundance of pizza restaurants throughout the greater Wyoming Valley, you have to stand out. In my opinion, Sabatini’s failed in...
Read morePizza is quite good if you are lucky. More often than not it is burnt. Rest of the food is either not great or it is just bad. Majority of the staff seems to be some sort of passive aggressive almost, like they have a rough day... but like every day? Not sure, but apparently being rude to people going there to eat must make their day better somehow?
They do not take cards in the restaurant. No where is there a sign that says "cash only" despite the fact they know people mention it daily. The bar however, does take cards. They even give you a food menu. BUT you may not buy this food unless you are buying drinks. If you're lucky they'll do it but they will be even more rude after. But usually you'll get a flat out no followed by a "it doesn't work like that" like you are insane for ordering food off of a menu they gave you, even though really every other bar on the planet allows you to do so. Don't even think about calling to pick up food at the bar. Yeah every other bar (ranging from scummy to very nice) lets you call and pick up food, but this one does not, which is totally fine, but you know, just don't expect this to be like any other bar that lets you.
Overall: Pizza is actually really good sometimes Bar is relatively nice, not for me though Rest of the food is just not good, it isn't TERRIBLE though Majority of the staff is rude, same with management They do not take cards They do not allow you to order food from the bar without purchasing alcohol first Wait time is quite long, even when not busy
Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else for food or to enjoy some drinks. Unless you like their pizza when it is done right. All these shortcomings would be fine if there was literally only one thing about the place that is great, but unfortunately...
