Believe every review about the service .......I didn't but found out for myself !!! It's a shame because we frequented this restaurant in the 70' s & 80's ...you couldn't get in the place . It was packed, but not now ! Met friends in the bar on a Saturday night . Took at least 15 minutes for 1 of the 3 bartenders to actually look up & pay attention to us sitting at the bar . Even if busy they should at least acknowledge your presence . The restaurant was not even half full.Finally got some drinks . We had a dinner reservation and the table was ready . It took my husband another 10 min to get a bar tab & close out . The hostess was very nice & sat us in front of their beautiful fireplace. After another 10 min or so ,someone came to pour water but spilled it all over because the edge of the pitcher was broken . Finally cleaned that up & the waitress came . We ordered apps and dinner at the same time , we were afraid to wait to order dinner due to the slow service . Waited a while , ordered a bottle of wine which was reasonable. Then no apps or lobster bisque soup as we ordered but dinner came out first . The waitress said she would take them back but who wants food sitting under a lamp for 1/2 hour . Were the apps even made ?! So we cancelled our apps , except the spring rolls. Everyone liked their dinner . A pork chop , Shrimp with linguini ( large portion ..lots of shrimp ) , chicken piccata, I had maji mahi . My portion of fish was very very small. The side of rice and avocado was delicious. So the food was tasty . It's a shame because the service is terrible & the ambiance is the best . This restaurant should be packed & it isn't due to some sort of mismanaged staff. It was not a dining experience I would order a dinner & apps at . Maybe a burger & drink at the bar if you could get their attention . The place looks like a beautiful ski lodge in the heart of Fair Haven . I didn't believe the reviews about service and apps coming out after or with dinner , but apparently it's true . Read moreWhat can I say about Nauvoo grill? Well years ago it used to be a place we went all the time as a family. We stopped going here because of poor service and cold food, on Christmas Eve, but this time around the food wasn't even a factor... let me elaborate.
I am 23 years old and was celebrating the first anniversary with my girlfriend. I made a reservation on open table for 7 pm and we got there exactly at 7. We then were escorted to our table tucked away into the corner behind a door and were told "close enough to see the tree and the fireplace" Meanwhile as a sidenote, I felt odd about this as there were two other couples at booths, thought that was odd since the reservations had been made. We sat down and about 5-10 minutes had passed before I started a stopwatch because no one had come to take our drink order. 10 minutes later a waitress that was not ours came to us and asked if we had ordered anything yet? To which I replied no we've been here 20 minutes. She then went to make our waitress aware, and then my girlfriend said our waitress just pointed at us and rolled her eyes. At that point I was ready to leave so I was calling another restaurant to save our anniversary night. Then she came and we ordered drinks and two appetizers. .... 5 more minutes passed when I realized it was 7:40 and we didn't even have our wine yet what am I doing here? So I left and this is pretty much strike three as I am concerned. Sad too because I went from wanting to celebrate our anniversary with steak and wine and go all out, to fleeing the restaurant and going to a diner instead. Tomorrow we will enjoy.a beautiful dinner at Birravino in Red Bank. The manager called and offered to take care of us at a later date, but that remains to be seen. And too bad we're very generous tippers for two 23 and 22 year old kids....
Read moreFebruary 16, 2018 We arrived around lunch time and were seated in the round, an area in the bar area. The waitress took our order for coffee and returned 18 minutes later with it. She seemed to be working behind the bar and bringing drinks to tables and to ppl at the bar. Then she remembered she hadn't brought our coffee and promptly brought it to us. We thought she forgot she was serving us. She then took our order. My wife ordered the lobster sandwhich and then asked what the soup of the day was and ordered it in addition. I also ordered the soup plus the filet mignon sandwhich. The soup was served promptly but the sandwiches took 22 minutes. When served my wife received 1/2 sandwhich. Which was not what she originally ordered. The waitress never returned to our table until it was time to bring the check abd at that time she took my order for a second cup of coffee . I still had half of my sandwhich left waiting patiently for the coffee so i had something to drink to finish the other half. She brought the coffee with no apologies when I told her she had forgotten about us and that my steak sandwhich had become cold. We ordered dessert. I ordered limon mousee cake. The waitress brought cheesecake. It took 12 minutes to get her attention then seemingly puzzled when I said i did not order Cheesecake. 5 minutes later she returned with the correct dessert. The food served was very good but the time to process the order was unacceptable. We reluctantly left a tip. But this waitress either needs more training or a different job. This was a very bad experience and not one Nauvoo can be proud of...
