Tavolo Pronto — Restaurant in Fair Haven

Have only gotten delivery from here since we live in Red Bank so I can’t speak to the wait or service some have complaints about in-store, but for delivery only it’s a 5/5 one of our fav in the area. The food is always excellent, warm, and pretty much everything we have gotten from here is excellent.

However, there are a few items that stand out:

1. Lentils: I have no idea how they prepare these but we get them every time no matter what we order, they’re amazing and just as good heated up the next day, cooked in some sort of base with onion, carrot, spices, in terms of relatively healthy food too and being only like $5 for a serving I highly recommend 1-2.
2. Eggplant Parm: not too big or heavy but everything about it (thin eggplant, use real mozz, good tomato sauce, high quality bread) is great
3. Fresh Mozz, Tomato, Balsamic, Basil Panini: the bread is the same high quality one as above and always crispy such a great combo
4. Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar Dessert: tied with Lentils as best item and just like them idk how they make something so simple so good. I could eat 10 of these so we only get it on occasion but wow they’re good

We have also had the roasted potatoes, cheese pizza, the salad with strawberry, a chicken parm meal & sandwich, a couple other things - all good but the items I listed 1-4 I would describe as far above average no matter where you’re ordering from.

The only thing even though the pizza was decent that’s prob the one thing I wouldn’t get here, not bc it’s not good, but you have places like Sally’s Boys right down the road making 10/10 pizza so it doesn’t really make sense to get 7.5/10 pizza with that and a few others close by. For everything else though, especially if you want to eat Italian but keep it relatively light and healthy, can’t recommend this...

I ordered cheesesteaks and a sandwich for pick up for my friends and I on a Friday night. We were looking forward to our meal and thankfully we put in our order before 9pm as the restaurant closes at 10pm. I understand placing an order before closing is frustrating, but I did not think it would be a big deal as the order was placed well over an hour before closing. They called me to let me know my order was ready, and that was it. When my friends and I went to pick up our order, we had the whole staff waiting at the register giving us dirty looks. The two Spanish girls at the register gave us attitudes, and were rude. They then proceeded to tell us they are closed, (it was ~9:20pm and they close at 10pm) and said they could not take cash as payment. Confused, and shocked by the way we were spoken to, not accepting my money?? i was wondering why I was not informed they were not accepting cash at the time, BEFORE i came to pick up my food. The two Spanish girls at the counter were snarky, and then gave us a thumbs up as we couldn’t pay for our food in cash, and had to run back out to grab our card. As a manager at CVS, ive been working in the service industry for years i was appalled by the way I was spoken to, and treated.

6 of us went to dinner and won't ever return. The mussels were gritty and had a strong fishy flavor so I wouldn't eat them although my boyfriend isn't as discerning so he ate most but not all of them. Most of the other food was good however I don't recommend this restaurant other than a friday night pizza place. There is no attention from the many people working there(literally noone checked on us). They obviously didn't care about us after we received our food. 3 Pasta dishes, 1 burger, mussels, and chicken fingers and 2 sodas cost $140. Plus tax-OUCH! Normally I wouldn't have a problem spending this on dinner for six, even more but this was so not worth it, go...
