I visited this store with my sister recently, and we had a disappointing experience. Since she has already left a review, I initially felt no need to add my own. However, after reading the owner’s response to her review, I felt compelled to share my experience as well. The owner’s sarcastic reply, while amusing, revealed a lot about their character.
When we entered the store, we were greeted politely with a “hello,” which was followed by a reminder that the store would be closing soon. I smiled and replied that we were just taking a peek. It was here we began our "in-depth spiritual journey between the sale rack and checkout" as described in her response. (The implication has been duly noted.)
We proceeded down the first aisle, which leads directly to the back of the store. The aisle felt a bit crowded, so the open space at the back was inviting. My attention was drawn to a pretty blouse, which turned out to be on a sales rack—lucky me, as I love a good sale. However, I didn’t realize that we would be judged for browsing that rack. We were reminded a second time about the store closing soon, which we again acknowledged. In hindsight, I realize we entered the store about 20 minutes before closing time.
At that point, I suppose we must have entered what the owner described as a “deep meditative trance.” In reality, I simply picked up the blouse I admired and complimented the color. My sister lifted a dress to ask my opinion, and we were chatting about the clothing when suddenly, a loud clap rang out from behind us. A woman standing roughly five feet away all but shouted, “Ladies, you have 15 minutes until the store closes.” Startled, I turned to confront her and replied sharply, “Wow, you are the third person to tell us that.” We exchanged words, and I told her, “Your message has been received. Clearly, we are not welcome here,” and we abruptly left.
In her comment, the owner said, “We don’t usually resort to applause, but we weren’t sure how else to break through your deep meditative trance. Eye contact and normal conversation didn’t seem to be working.” I’ve addressed the “applause” and our “meditative trance.” As for normal conversation, from the moment we walked in until we left less than 10 minutes later, we received repeated reminders about the little time we had to browse.
Were we supposed to pause in our short time and begin a conversation with any or all of sales women? Should we have inquired about their families, their interests, foods they like? If I offended anyone, I apologize. Given the time constraint, I was focused on the clothing racks.
If you’ve made it to the end of this review, I encourage you to read the owner's response to my sister's review as well. It gave me a giggle. However, knowing what actually transpired and then reading a response that insinuates potential customers were drunk in the store speaks volumes about the poster's character. While I could have overlooked that last sales person's faux pas, the way the poster responded reveals a character flaw that I can’t support.
My money is better spent elsewhere. Small businesses are important, but the character of the people who run them is equally crucial. That alone is enough for me not to want to promote this business. You might find something lovely to wear here, but I didn’t have the chance to explore much of the collection. Just be sure to check the store hours before you visit. If you pop in at the wrong time, you may not be welcome. And whatever you do, avoid looking at...
Read moreI went there to shop and thrice I was told they were closing in 15 minutes minutes. Twice while as I was browsing and then clapped at me to get my attention a third time while I was contemplating a purchase, to inform a third they were closing in fifteen minutes. I felt at this time that Karen made her point and that we weren't welcome so we put our purchases back on the racks and left. Do not recommend this store, will take take my business elsewhere. 8/23/2025 Edit: Response tried to make it seem like we were drunk when we were just killing time for the Firemans Fair. My sisters first time there and they rushed her out of the store. I've never been clapped at at a RETAIL STORE regardless of the closing time. Poster told me to shop at a store that's closed indefinitely and telepathically, Yes it's called Amazon and it's killing small businesses. Big talk for someone selling merchandise from Indonesia and not the...
Read moreAfter being a long time customer at 606, My favorite clothing store it’s long overdue to leave a review. This store is perfect for all occasion wear from beach, casual, dressy you name it . They have it! I recently had a shoulder replacement & I saw a dress that Anne displayed on her frequent videos of her latest fashions . I loved it & knew it would serve me well as I recovered & being a timeless dress for ages. I called the store and knew it was one of the last dresses available in my size. Kim was so gracious said not to worry she would hold it. A few days went by before I could pick up, I was just going to pay & take the dress, without trying it on as it’s a hassle being in a sling. Anne was so gracious! She insisted on helping me and it fit perfectly. I can’t say enough about the quality of the clothes , top customer service. Stay local shop at 606 you will not be disappointed!...
