Japino — Restaurant in Fair Lawn

I had ordered quite a large order for my family after reading the magnificent reviews left by other from the community. First let me start off by telling the whole community about the most kindhearted and compassionate owner of the establishment, she had taken the time to correctly pronounce my fatherś name Hasko (which typically I go by) and even called me back to let me know when my order was ready to be picked up. She is an excellent example of how establishments should be in accordance with their customer service skills. Not only was she an excellent customer service provider but even had a very interesting and intriguing conversation with me regarding the authenticity of the certain dishes and how they should properly be eaten. Let me tell you Kim knows what she is talking about ! Coming from a B.A Major- I am saddened to see how most establishments treat their customers on this regards I give kim a 10/10 in customer service. On to Kimś dishes - We had multiple dishes of chicken teriyaki platter, chicken karaage,chicken Katsu and the beef dumplings. ALL the food was beautifully wrapped - I mean gosh I seriously feel like the presentation alone was worth the money. Everything we consumed was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavour, this is not by far your typical take out food place ! I can not stress out the brilliantly prepared and presented dishes. I can not believe I had not found Kimś location any sooner ! ABSOLUTE 10/10. With all said, my family absolutely enjoyed the food and it was gone so quickly that I could not snap any pictures. Not to worry I will be back promptly and add some pictures to review. Thank you...

Dined in on a Sunday and was served with way more than delicious food. Kim was an amazing host and shared so many funny and heartwarming stories with my friend and me. That’s what makes Japino more than a restaurant - it’s more like enjoying a delicious meal in your friend’s kitchen accompanied by great conversation!

Kim is a one woman show, so would recommend you come with managed expectations (although she manages them well enough already) on potentially longer wait or serving times, and parties/orders are managed on a first come first serve basis. She works incredibly hard to make her customers happy. If you spend the time to connect with her, I promise you will smile, laugh, be amazed, and become a returning customer.

Kim’s dishes are super tasty. Takoyaki had multiple pieces of crunchy octopus pieces like little treasures wrapped in fluffy dough! Cod roe pasta is a must get - it’s so creamy the mentaiko sticks to the al dante noodles, and seasoned perfectly. Pork katsu curry was so delicious - crispy and fried to perfection with bone in, alongside thick curry! My wife and I were looking for a place to have some ramen while out food shopping as most places were closed in Paramus, NJ that served ramen. We did a quick Yelp search and found this amazing spot that we had no idea about. A Filipino/Japanese restaurant sounded amazing! Kim who runs the restaurant was so generous and nice to us. We didn’t realize that her restaurant mostly does takeout but she opened her restaurant for us to dine in which was so accommodating for her to do.

Since we were in the mood for ramen, we ordered the Miso Ramen and the Shoyo ramen. Kim has so many good Japanese and Filipino food options though. It was hard to choose. We stuck to our craving for ramen and we were so glad we did. Both ramen dishes were absolutely amazing. Kim cooks the dishes to order and let us know upfront that it does take some time because every dish she makes, she makes it fresh and for the customer with love. (She also is the only one working the entire restaurant.) After devouring the ramen I can 100% say she really does. It’s nice to see a restaurant that still takes its time to make you feel like you are having a delicious home cooked meal and you leave happy and full. We 100% will be coming back to order more from Kim’s menu and already let her know we’ll be back to see her soon and can’t wait to eat her...
