We've been here only once and will definitely come back. By my count this is the 4th (?) Mexican restaurant in Fairfield and I think the only Tex-Mex. I have no complaints about the other 3 and we are quite happy to eat at those places too. BUT El Paso has more unusual (for me anyway) dishes on the menu than the others. For example, I had the Aguachiles Verdes with shrimp, which I had never heard of before. It was unusual, pungent, and delicious. If for no other reason, El Paso earns my respect for bringing new flavors to Fairfield and bringing it well.
We went on a weekday right before lunchtime and the service was fine. Pleasant & they got the order right. Quick enough but not startling so. When we left, the place was packed with 6-7 people standing at the door waiting to be seated.
So by comparison: Aranda's will always be a go-to for us: fresh ingredients for great flavor, nice people, lovely to sit on their patio. La Hacienda for reliably delicious food and lightning fast service. Now, El Paso for something different.
Fairfield is lucky to have El Paso...
Read moreNever will come back the way the men in this place disrespected my mother. We ordered around 50 dollars worth of food through their online ordering system. I paid for it and my mom picked it up. I had a long day of driving her to my father who is at the hospital in Waterloo and she offered graciously to pick up the food i order for the family. She went in and they did nothing to help her figure out what happened to the order until i showed up and had to show the transaction on my phone. My mother had the order on her phone. They would not even give her the time if day and resolve it until i showed up. I have never seen such misogynistic attitude. I am shocked and will never spend a single dime at a place that is rude to my mother. I would recommend everyone avoid a place that doesn't treat customers fairly. This has happened yo my mother 3 times before. I had a hard time believing it until i saw it...
Read moreThey treat African American people badly here. Whenever it’s busy they seat Caucasian individuals before me even though I was in line first. The chefs have NOTHING to do with service. There is only one server who is professional I think his name is Patricio if I’m not mistaken. There is one server who’s upset that I don’t want to date him and now he gives me bad service and has an attitude and attempts to up charge at every chance he gets. Everyone else is fine. Food is great but the service depending on who it is serving you is HORRIBLE. I love it here to eat but the workers make it difficult to want to eat here. the manager wasn’t here today which I’m sure is the reason for the bad service and lack of inclusion. I can’t continue to put my money into a business that lacks basic respect for me...
