Restaurant Review: A Mixed Experience at La Casita de Marquitos
I recently had the chance to visit “La Casita de Marquitos, a spot that had caught my attention through a tourism program I work with. After hearing rave reviews and seeing it featured on a local news channel, I was eager to experience it for myself and introduce my guests—who had never heard of the restaurant—to what I hoped would be a fantastic meal.
Upon arrival, the atmosphere was buzzing, and the staff member who greeted us explained that the restaurant had been packed all day due to the media coverage. This was exciting news for the owners and employees, and I was optimistic about what we would experience.
However, despite the bustling environment, I was disappointed to find out that the kitchen was closed earlier than expected, and we were not informed of this upon our arrival. We learned that some of their most popular dishes, including the carne frita, were already sold out for the day.
We decided to order a hamburger, brisket, and ribs, but our meal took longer to arrive than anticipated. When it finally did, I was surprised by the simplicity of the hamburger—it consisted only of meat, cheese, and bread for $14, which I felt was quite underwhelming. The brisket was dry, and the ribs were cold and lacking in flavor.
Given the high expectations based on the restaurant's reputation, I found myself feeling let down. I had hoped to promote this place to others at my hotel, but after this experience, I’m left hesitant.
While I appreciate the hard work of the staff and the challenges that come with a busy day, I urge anyone considering a visit to [Restaurant Name] to keep in mind that my experience may not reflect their usual standards. I genuinely hope that this was just an off day, as I believe every restaurant has the potential to shine. If you decide to visit, I recommend checking in beforehand to ensure your favorite dishes are available and to confirm the...
Read moreFirst time at this bbq joint located in the middle of nowhere. The seating area is outdoors. The main dishes are pricey and include 2 sides. Each side is $5. I ordered the brisket which was $32 for just two slides of brisket and the sides. The brisket was juicy and delicious but a very small portion for the cost. We also ordered a bottle of red wine and everything came out for $100 including tip. Pretty much the wine is also pricey. They have two portable potties. There's also an off-road rental in the premises. Actually the road to get to this joint is pretty much off road so you might wanna bring your jeep or...
