TL;DR: service was sub-par, waitress inattentive, bartender was slow, green chili fries and tots were good, as were the margaritas, kitchen fast, would only go back if getting the aforementioned food.
It was a Sunday, the tail-end of the third week of the month. There were probably five or six occupied tables, a few patrons at the bar, and five or six waitresses on the floor. A very quiet time of the day (about 4-ish) and yet the service was pretty poor. The waitress arrived fairly quickly when we sat ourselves, but she was not very attentive, nor did she seem to be very knowledgeable. (Did not know when their happy hour began.) We had inquired about several different beers, almost none of which she could answer questions about, and almost all of which were marked as 'on tap' and yet they were out of. (After a long weekend, I can understand being out, but not knowing what you still have on tap? Really?) After finding out that the first beer we inquired about was out, she should have written down all that were still available instead of running back and forth several times to check each beer individually. Additionally, the menu was incorrect, according to our waitress that is. It stated to ask about the seasonal favorite, of which our waitress said there never were any and that she didnt know why the menu still listed that as an option. Once we finally got our drinks, which took quite some time after ordering (what could possibly be holding up the bartender on such a slow day?) We were all ready to order. Two ordered the street tacos (one beef, one pork), one ordered the buffalo boneless wings (1/2 lb side), a side of the tater tots and the green chili smothered fries for the table. By the time our food had arrived, which was fairly fast, faster than we had received our drinks, our designated was running low on tea. The waitress was flitting back and forth from our table so fast that he couldn't even ask to get another glass. (She managed to come by the table three different times without noticing the empty glass.) Of the meal: the tater tots and the smothered fries were incredible, the boneless wings were terribly over salted (poor designated with no tea to wash it down either), the beef in the tacos was a bit on the dry side, the crema was unpalatable, tasting mostly of lime and under-ripe avocados, which made eating the dry tacos that much more difficult (thankfully we had leftover green chili from the sides to moisten everything up). Drinks: the beers were good and the margarita was perfect, the tea was somewhat watered down (but hey at least he got something right?) The end: our waitress did not inquire if we wanted anything else before bringing us our check, (we actually ended up ordering one more margarita), and we ended up having to ask about a to-go container instead of her offering. All in all, the food got three stars (some phenomenal and some less than sub-par) and if I could give zero stars for service I would, but I guess she did end up bringing us everything in the end. We came on a recommendation from a friend to try the fries and they did not disappoint, but the service...
Read moreThe food was good as always, especially on Friday with their Fish Fry. However, our last visit (8/23), I didnt have as good of time. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak and opted to have onion rings as her side. After we received our bill, we got charged for a small side of ranch for the salad that didn't have, habanero mango sauce for our wings that didnt have enough, tartar sauce for the extra fish that I was charged $7 for ordering and sour cream for our daughter's taco. We were charged for each of those sides. Nobody mentioned they were extra, but that was a little unnecessary given the meals that came with sauce and dressing on them were at a less than satisfying amount. Also, for the FOUR onion rings that came with my wife's dinner, that added $5 on to the bill. That is no joke. How were mine added to my meal for a dollar upgrade, but not my wife's? I can't see myself paying that much for onion rings unless it's a platter in itself. I told the server about it and she said that was the best she could do. I asked to speak with someone who could maybe help me, but she had already "talked" to someone about it. For an $80 dinner, that is beyond dumb. I understand having to turn a profit, but if I can go to places such as Wendy's, Old Chicago, Rock Bottom, Pizza Hut and Sonic (I included a variety of places to prove a point) and get an additional ranch at no charge, why can't this place? I'm especially upset about the $5 side of onion rings and tartar sauce even though I just about paid for another meal for 2 additional pieces of fish. Little things like this that unnecessarily add on to the bill with no correction makes for a bad experience on my part as no warning of such a charge was delivered PRIOR to us getting our food. If I had known they would come out to that much, I wouldve absolutely said no. Despite the fish being great and the facility being down the road from me, I don't see going there again for these reasons and these little items are worth leaving people paying for rather than informing the customer prior to and being so cheap that you little sides of sauces can't be provided...
Read morei have been here multiple times, and left disappointed every single time despite always getting something different. however, today was my final straw. I got their chicken fried chicken with brown gravy instead of white - something i prefer and have done before at other restaurants. their brown gravy is absolutely horrific. my own foot would taste better than whatever they make. honestly, i wouldve been happier if they got one of those flavor packets from Walmart and used that to make the gravy instead. trust me, it is BAD. and the mashed potatoes? worst ones i have EVER had. how can you even mess up mashed potatoes? the ones in the box tasted better than whatever they served me. i know its common for people to use a bit of sour cream or ranch in their mashed potatoes, but they were SO sour, i was convinced there was more sour cream in there than actual potato. or maybe they used spoiled milk. whatever it was, it was bad. those instant boxed mashed potatoes you get at the grocery store would be better than the ones here. and when i got my food, it was room temperature at best. service, bad as well. waiter forgot our silverware until we got our food and literally had to ask for it. and then, once we got our food, he disappeared for 15-20 minutes and didnt check on us again until we were done with our food. i did not finish mine - but also was not about to ask to send the plate back when i had it for 20 minutes. overall, just many negative experiences here. it was not that busy, nor super late at night. i dont think there is any valid reason why the service and food quality should have been as poor as they were. i give this 2 stars instead of one, because contrary to me - my dad did have a decent experience with his food. if youre going to come here, it seems theyre only decent at making burgers. everything else is just pretty mediocre and not...
