Bagel Cafe NJ — Restaurant in Fanwood

Location is the only reason I kept giving this place additional chances after unhappy first experiences since the new owners took over. Very expensive first of all… I can get a bagel and coffee in NYC cheaper than a bagel w veggie cream cheese from this place! Had an incredibly stale bagel one of the first visits… decided to give them another chance. Rude attitude from workers on multiple occasions. Cashier was sweeping for 3 minutes before finally noticing me and helping me out another time… I was standing 5 feet from her how don’t you see me!? Final straw was today I stopped in to get bagels to bring to the office a little after 6 AM (when they open) and was told “Sorry bagels won’t be ready for another 30 minutes” !??? You’re a bagel store and you don’t have bagels ready for opening!? Lol see ya never. Not going to mind an additional few minutes drive to avoid this...

Employees seemed confused. I ordered 3 items, a chai tea, plain coffee, and a muffin. They handed me the tea and forgot everything else. When I reminded them, they had to check the register to confirm my order.

I received a reply from the owner and difficulty replying in the app. I admit I made an error, I didn't order a Chai tea. It was a caramel latte, so that was my error. Your attitude towards a customer complaint shows your disregard for customer service. Instead of an apology, it was an attack. I have been a manager for most of my 37-year career in quality assurance. I know how to respond to a customer complaint, and your reply is inappropriate. An important read for Scotch Plains-Fanwood Teams: This morning I purchased 2 dozen bagels, butter, cream cheese and a large coffee to bring to the SPF Soccer Tournament. The total cost was $51.31....AND THE OWNER REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY KNIVES!!!! TOLD ME THE PRICE HE CHARGED WAS FOR THE FOOD ONLY!!! Yes, after spending over $50, I was expected to PAY FOR UTENSILS!!! Moreover, the coffee cups are no longer beside the coffee machine; they're behind the register under the watchful eyes of the owner....quite insulting. I told the owner: "Swiss Pastry Shoppe and Babba's Bagels in Scotch Plains are a mere 5 minutes away"....that's where I'll shop before Lacrosse and Soccer Tournaments...
