Ginger Sushi — Restaurant in Fanwood

I have gone to this establishment before and never had an issue until today. We ordered shrimp tempura and my daughter started eating one and quickly spit it out and showed me little black things inside. We quickly broke open another one and I was the same thing. I went back and showed the woman at the counter and asked for a refund for that item. I told her she could credit my card or give cash, whatever worked easiest for her. She seemed a little annoyed that brought it back but said she would need to void the transaction to refund. She was messing with the register then says it’s not working I’ll give you store credit only. I expressed I did not want a store credit I wanted it back on my card or cash back. She then proceeded to raise her voice at me telling me not to order that item again and that no one has ever complained about any item EXCEPT for YOU!!!! she kept saying over and over. I was still calm and simply said ok that’s fine if no one else has ever complained. I am 100% sure if someone saw what I saw inside the shrimp they would have an issue as well. I also let her kno she didn’t have to worry about what I may or may not order again because I absolutely will not be patronizing this establishment again. I like to give business to all our local business’ but Ginger Sushi will not b one of them. Here attitude was totally uncalled for and disgusting. Here is a picture of what the shrimp looked like...

This is first time i have ever left any comments, and as I'm eriting this I'm still fuming... Ok, first about the food - it is delicious! Probably one of the best I have ever had....BUT.... all of it is not worth the aggravation of waiting for AN HOUR to get the food. We came on Friday at 7 pm, the place looked somewhat busy, but not all the tables were taken. We sat, ordered miso soup, tuna tartar appetizer and 6 different rolls. 20 minutes went by and no soup.... we asked the server to bring it, which she did. 30 minutes we asked how much longer only to find out they didnt even start on the order. The sushi chefs were working non-stop making the take-outs, meanwhile several tables inside were waiting and waiting. Not one time the server came up to us to explain that they were busy, every time we would turn around, she would just make it look like we didn't exist. The manager was right there packing the food for the pick-ups. I have never been treated this poorly as a customer anywhere. I would much rather take my $$$ to the restaurant that actually cares about...

My favorite place for sushi!! Amazing food and the staff is very lovely. They knew my name by the second visit and had my order memorized as well. Every now and then the chef will even offer you a new piece of sushi or a new dessert and it always ends up being a part of my regular order. If dining alone you can sit at the sushi bar or at a table, your choice. Tables are spaced very well so you won't be bumping into people near you. Great place for a quick meal or to stay for as long as you want. This place is BYOB and I always bring sake and even though they do not offer sake they always offer to warm it up and serve it in a hot carafe.
