It would've been a whole lot better if I had gotten what I ordered. I ordered the #250 (combination plate) to go. I chose a gyro, kafta kabob (per their menu), and fries. What I received was an indiscernible mess of everything simply glopped into a styrofoam container. The "salad" was a bunch of wilted, slimy garbage. I did not get a gyro. What I got was a pita sliced into quarters placed on top of the heaping mess underneath. I had to dig through the slop to find the pathetically meager portion of kabob upon which the wilty, slimy "salad" was slopped. The fries were floppy and soggy. Granted, this was for takeout, but one would think that fries would not lose their vigor after a five minute drive home, even if they are imprisoned in a styrofoam tomb.
I will say this: the meat that I did find after having to dig through all the slop was really good. I've always loved their gyros.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of trusting that they would do me right in exchange for my hard-earned money.
Prior to this abysmal experience, I loved Café Aladdin and would have given them 4 stars across the board.
Caveat effing emptor, I guess.
Let this be a lesson: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE!
I might go back. Although, probably not. It simply isn't worth the disappointment of being disrespected like that for what equates to a simple sandwich after spending $20 on a "combination plate" when the combination is merely a bunch of slop glopped into a styrofoam container without so much as a thank you or a fare-thee-well.
What happened to you, Café Aladdin? You used to...
Read moreWe walked in and were greeted right away, it felt like we were being welcomed into someone's home. He was friendly and professional. He explained the menu to us, and told us if we had any questions to just ask. I ordered the Big Gyro, Hummus, Greek Salad, and Spinach Pie with Arabic Tea. Oh my! The meat for the Gyro was tender melt in your mouth and full of mild but tasty flavor. The Hummus was very good, not too strong; it could have been stronger, but still was delicious. The Greek Salad was good. I liked the dressing they used on it, and the banana pepper, and of course the black olives. The Spinach Pie made me close my eyes and savor the flavor of it. The texture of the pastry was crispy. Oh, so delicious! Then there was the Arabic Tea. Normally, I would want sugar or cream; this needed neither. It was delicious on it's own. My husband ordered the same, except the fries, and had soda. It was so filling that we had to take the leftover (there was lots) to go. Oh, and the price is VERY reasonable. We chatted with the owner and his cousin for about twenty minutes and then there were other guest. Music was put on for us, as it was our Valentine meal. An authentic Middle Eastern Greek Meal. :) Thank you Aladdin's Cafe; it was worth the search to find you. We will definitely...
Read moreStopped here for lunch while on a weekday daytrip to the Fargo area. Wanting something outside of the standard fare of burgers and sandwiches, we decided to give Café Aladdin a try – and we were not disappointed. The food is nothing short of delicious. Each dish is a delightful blend of flavors and textures that truly captures the essence of Mediterranean cuisine. I had the Kufta kabob pita sandwich combo with a side of pistachio baklava, my husband had the meat lover’s gyro pita sandwich combo with a side of fries, and we shared an order of falafel. And because it was a special outing, I opted to get more baklava to-go. For us, the regular sized sandwiches with the falafel were just the right amount of food, but if you’re extra hungry the jumbo gyro sandwich looked fantastic. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch spot or an easy dinner option, Café Aladdin is a great choice. The combination of awesome food, a pleasant atmosphere, wonderful employees, and reasonable prices makes it a...
