Royal Buffet — Restaurant in Fargo

Super rude service and greedy people. They apply automatic 20 percent tips without proper notice and consent. This appears to be almost illegal to me. They have been enjoying the double tips for two years according their own words. When confronted they said it’s customer’s fault not paying enough attention.

My suggestion to everyone, stay away from this greedy place, like their food or not. Greediness comes along with bottomlessness.

Update: The owner claims the automatic tip was communicated properly. Unfortunately that’s a blatant lie. They only updated the notice after we confronted them.

I don’t think they realize the implication there. It’s not about money, it’s about trust. For the past two years we have been writing tips of 20%, until recently we found out there is already 20% automatic tip added. That means we have been paying 44% tips in total. Because 20% rate applied to their automatic tips too.

That’s right, we paid tips on tips. They never pointed that out, nor double confirmed with us.

I don’t think 44% tip rate is usual for a buffet place like this. We wouldn’t pay the additional 24% had we know their tick. The average tip rate in ND is reported to be around 16%.

Do they really believe their service is so extraordinary that a tip that is almost 3 times the usual is warranted? I don’t know. Yet they just silently enjoyed the extra money that they don’t deserve.

If you are not honest on things I get to see - such as bill statement, how can I expect you will be honest on the things...

The best restaurant in town in my opinion. I love the food here whether its buffet day or take out tuesday, every single thing here is worth it. Crawfish all the time on the buffet so any day is a good day for some buttery crawfish delite. Their chefs are superb and always adding more to the buffet. Their menu items not on buffet at absolutely delicious also. I love this place and recommend it to all who want a good wholesome meal. If you want meat and veggies or fried appetizers they have it all. Huge dessert selection and even sushi available. They do amazing lunch pricing for buffet take out or dine in. You get an amazing amount of well prepared food for a very fair price, its almost a dream its so good here. Been a long time fan and tried everything there is. The only thing that could make it better is a larger fanbase, they deserve more customers. I would love to see more people supporting such a high quality restaurant like this; the people who own and run this place of kindness are just the best in town, they're super friendly and always willing to help satiate an appetite of any size or style. Their steaks are to die for and their lo mein, hands down, best in Fargo. I take it to go all the time with bell peppers and beef. If you like crunch try the spring rolls and sweet and sour, blend so well and made by hand no doubt. Stopped again 01-21-2025 1 1/2 hr drive, awesome as always. 5 in our party, I was looking to find some duck( they had some two visits ago) disappointed it wasn't there( I wish I knew what days they offer it unless it's only an occasional item which they had an email address or the ability to text so that I can find out that information) but everything else was super great!! Love the sushi it has a lot of flavor some places it is very Bland but this place makes great sushi! Along with everything else! Stopped in and brought first timers. Still AWESOME! Our guests couldn't believe the quality of the food, the price & selection! I live 1 1/2 hrs away in MN and believe me when I tell you this place is worth driving to just to eat here, but if you're coming to the area to shop or go to a doctor, stop here to eat! The food is extremely well flavored, it is NOT cold, chewy, or bland. Their sushi and dumpling are awesome. The sauce for the dumplings is actually real dumpling sauce, not just soy sauce! Food is phenomenal tasting! We were here at around 3:30 pm. And I tried duck for the first time. It was DELICIOUS! OMG! DELICIOUS! Had doctor appointment in Fargo.. 2 hours from home. Took the kids to this buffet!! It is the most awesome Asian food we have ever had and we have been to buffets in Duluth, Detroit lakes, brainerd etc etc.. you have to go here it is...
