Soho 23 is a hidden gem in Fargo, blending Japanese and Korean flavors in a way that feels both comforting and creative. It makes sense when you think about it — Japanese cooking brings a precision and balance of flavors, while Korean cuisine leans into bold spices, marinades, and fermented sides. Together, the two traditions make for a fusion that’s hearty, vibrant, and fun to eat. Everything we tried here was fantastic. The calamari was perfectly fried — light, crisp, and paired with sliced grilled peppers. The Yum sauce and garlic lime sauce each added their own twist and showed off the house-made attention to detail. We had the pork belly thanks to a local tip (it’s not on the menu), and it was the star of the night. Thin strips of pork belly wrapped in lettuce with rice, ssamjang, and sesame oil sauce really hit the spot. The owner also brought out her own homemade kimchi, which added a zesty, tangy pop. The sunomono (pickled cucumber dish) was crisp and refreshing, a perfect palate cleanser. The chicken katsu was golden, tender, and balanced beautifully with its sweet-savory sauce and Japanese curry — a dish that reminded me why katsu is such a beloved comfort food. Even dessert was special: a green tea ice cream brûlée with a smoky caramelized crust, paired with a warm mochi cake fresh from the oven. Eating them together in one bite was a highlight — chewy and spongy mochi balanced with the delicate matcha and blueberries. What sets Soho 23 apart is the owner herself. She cooks everything from scratch using family recipes, with no shortcuts, and it shows. You can taste the love and tradition in every dish. For Fargo, having a Korean-Japanese restaurant of this quality feels rare, and it’s absolutely worth seeking out.

I got one word to describe my experience and that is "amazing". My eldest wanted to try the restaurant so we did. As we get in we were greeted by a waitress and she assisted us to our seats, she got our drinks and was served immediately. An older gentleman took our order, since we are new (not regular)he explained to us how to eat our food to get maximum experience. My family truly enjoyed the meal, except for me, I LOVE IT. I didn't even notice till my husband told me I was making noises as I chew, like a little girl making nummm nummm noises. A beautiful lady checked on us if we need anything else without us asking she said she will bring us a set of lettuce for our meals, she was so nice and her smile says it all. It's not just the food that we had a great experience, the people were amazing too, they are friendly and welcoming. I can finally say, I found my favorite place to eat. We are definitely going back there.

I had the Chicken Mochiko, Buldak, chicken bulgogi, and firecracker shrimp with my wife. Everything here was flavorful and good. I loved the spicy mayo to dunk my food in. The firecracker shrimp and the mochiko chicken were my wife and my favorites here but the miso soup was also much better than most places. The spice is spicy if you have low to medium spice tolerance but everything was more flavorful than spicy. Comfortable environment and the service is great for a small place. The owner is very kind and involved in all aspects. Love the environment and will definitely be coming back. Portions are also reasonable, not too much or too little. I eat a lot and was very content with it all. The only reason the service wasn't 5 stars is just because they have limited staff. The staff there gave 5 star service but it takes some time to do everything that the staff needs to do.

Absolutely love this place! Truly a hidden gem within our town and more people should experience the deliciousness of soho23, their chicken hibachi is impeccable, the miso soup is always so perfect and warms you up inside each time. Food is always consistent, or better! I swear each time we come we’re never disappointed or it ends up tasting even better than last time. Service is also very quick, i don’t think there’s ever been a time where we’ve had to wait an absurdly long time for our food, always within a couple minutes and it’s out steaming hot.

The owner is so sweet, i’ve never been a “regular” at a restaurant to the point where the staff recognizes me but she is always so so welcoming and so passionate about her work and will never hesitate to explain meals to you and how they’re prepared, all freshly of course. She is truly so sweet.

The resturant itsself is so cozy and comfortable, you could easily spend a couple hours there without even realizing, the overall atmosphere is just wonderful and you don’t see places similar.

Overall, highly highly recommend, i can’t believe more people...

This was arguably the best dining experience we've had in an incredibly long time. Two main factors - the insanely high quality of the food (and I feel bad calling it food because it deserves an entirely better term) and the people. Not only was the cost low, the overall quality was through the roof amazing. It was quiet while we were there so we got to talk to the main chef and the owner a little bit and I can't begin to describe how wonderful the entire experience was. The K Street tacos were out-of-this-world good, for real. All I could say throughout our entire meal was either "this is just incredible" or "I just can't believe this".

When you are going to go out to and treat yourself, this place offers exactly what you would hope everywhere else would offer. The experience here was so wonderful, we know we've found our new favorite place. I feel like this would be a place that would have Michelin stars in downtown NYC but so dang wonderful having it here in Fargo!

Absolutely fantastic everything here, I wish I could come remotely close to describing our experience but I think you get the...
