A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Faribault

I had never been to this A&W location before, so I didn't know if you ordered at the counter or sat down first and got waited on. I asked the A&W employee behind the counter and she said that I could take a seat and she would take my order. She wasn't very friendly, but I was like, whatever.

It wasn't very busy at the restaurant, but she took her sweet time to come over to my table. I decided to order a Coney Dog meal deal. I didn't want the chili or onions on the hot dog, just cheese. She confirmed my special order and then I waited for my food. The root beer and the chocolate shake that arrived were great! However, my fries weren't hot enough, but I ate them anyway. When I opened up the styrofoam container for my cheese dog, it was covered in onions! If it were a regular hot dog, I would have just brushed them off. But I couldn't do that with this one because the onions were mixed in with the cheese.

So I took the container up to the counter and placed it there and said that I got onions on the cheese dog and I didn't order onions. I told them I wanted a replacement cheese dog. By "them" I'm referring to my waitress, and the guy who brought the food to my table. The guy said nothing, and neither did the waitress, who just glared at me. I think she was upset that I interrupted her gab fest with her fellow waitress.

I returned to my table and waited quite a while for the new cheese dog. When the waitress finally arrived with the cheese dog, she practically threw it at me! No kidding, the container slid across the table. She very snottily said, "Here you go - ENJOY!" I was expecting an apology for the messed up order, but I didn't receive one. There were no apologies at any time from any of the staff. I was also left wondering why the waitress was mad at ME? I didn't do anything wrong. I had very calmly stated that there was a mistake with my order, and I didn't give them any attitude.

I decided that the waitress didn't deserve a tip - I will NOT tolerate that kind of rude behavior! I gave the cashier a note with my bill (see photo). This waitress and other staff need to learn how to treat people with respect!

If I ever return to this A&W, I will just order through the drive thru. And I'll only order beverages because the food...

I come there yesterday about 11am with me and my 4 year old son first we walked in and seen all the booths were either filled or dirty so we decided to sit outside and first thing that happened is my 4 yr old hit the button a few times and the boss lady that was on think her name was Alex came out saying “someone coming out stop pushing the button “ they could of brought out a book for him to color in but they didn’t. then our server came out handed us menus and said you know what you want I “said we haven’t even looked at menus yet” but we’ll take root beer in mean time… told me to push button when ready I said yeah no thank you I won’t be pushing it because the at lady was rude about it enough that my son that is 4 even said she was rude so serve comes about out with nothing takes out order and again I say well take a root beer she leaves then comes back and says it’s policy now that you have to pay right away. I had to ask for a refill because they didn’t come back and check on us. I was like are you kidding I’ve never had to pay before I even touch my food can I just pay after like normal and she said no it’s policy you have to pay now so I handed over my card and we didn’t even eat I told my son to pack up and we left. I couldn’t even get his ice cream because I didn’t wanna go back in to deal with that rude lady. I come to a&w at least once a week and I’ve never been treated so badly. I grew up here and I’m also in the good industry and I would never treat someone that bad especially if I was because a toddler...

This particular franchise store is doing everything right! Let me set the stage. It's Saturday, Memorial Day weekend, and rushing travelers are in the store, at the drive-thru, drive-in, and pick-up cue. The place is as busy as I've ever seen any food stop on a Holiday weekend.

We were greeted not less than 3 times by employees as we made our way into the store. Once inside, we were directed to sit anywhere we like and a server would be with us shortly. Within a few short minutes our server came to our table, we were ready to order, and the pleasantness of this hard working, overtaxed, young woman surprised us. She was very attentive and quickly took our our order.

The wait for our food was extraordinarily short on such a busy day. The ordered food was accurately served and the best part was that it tasted great! Servers constantly scanned the dining area for empty mugs and were prompt in making sure guest's drinks were topped off.

We were thanked by numerous employees for our patronage on our way out. This A&W store is going to our first choice for a rest stop and tasty treats when we're passing through the area.
