The Village Grill of Farmington Hills has such poor customer service! I know a few people who has patroned this restaurant and experienced very bad service . The head waitress try’s to portray herself as being nice but she is far from nice. Today, I dropped of my African American daughter and her friend to eat and they did a little studying for a test while they were there. The manager came to their table after they were there for 1 and a half hours and told them that they needed to prepare to leave her restaurant. She tells them it’s about to get busy and it’s about time for them to go. She also told me when I got back to restaurant to pick them up that her waitresses remember these two girls and that they can refuse to serve their table because they didn’t leave a tip last time. So I asked her,” Do you mean that your waitresses can refuse to go to a table and serve customers if they don’t want to?” She said YES! She said that she can’t make them serve anyone. I said lady....... these waitress work for you and you mean that if they remember someone before not leaving a tip that you don’t tell them that they still need to serve them! She was adamant about the fact that she don’t make them serve a table if they don’t get tipped! She said her waitresses get very upset at people when they’re not tipped. I believe wholeheartedly in tipping my servers, however, I didn’t realize that my daughter didn’t tip the waitress and I told my daughter whenever she’s out with her friends, they should always tip the waitress. But the people who work at this restaurant discriminate against certain people and I’ve has a lot of people who live in Farmington Hills to tell me that they’ve been discriminated against at Village Grill! Like I stated, the head waitress acts as if she’s nice to everyone but You can see right through her and know that it’s not real. I’ll never support this restaurant again! Also, I was here at this restaurant a few months back to put in an order for carry out. This same lady saw me standing at the register for a few minutes before she even acknowledged me. She wasn’t doing much at all. I kept watching her nicely waiting to see when she would acknowledge me. This restaurant is not diverse at all. They’ll never admit it, but the workers here have issues with...

Tonight we went there forgetting that my wife had a lousy piece of spinach pie the first time we ate there (it was about 95% spinach without enough egg mixture even to remotely hold it together.) But, having walked in, we thought we'd give them another chance. My wife ordered the stuffed cabbage this time. Halfway through the meal my wife said that her stuffed cabbage was about 90% rice with virtually no meat. We cut the second stuffed cabbage roll and cut it in half. The server took it back to the kitchen and came back returning the cut roll and telling us the boss was going to talk to the cook who made them tomorrow. Asked if they were going to adjust the cost of the meal and shje said the person at the register would have to make any adjustments to costs when I went up to pay. My wife refused to eat any of the second stuffed cabbage.
When I went up a woman took the check and started to ring it up. I asked her what she was going to do about the cabbage roll price and she told me that they COULDN'T make any price adjustments. She said she would GIVE me the Senior Citizen discount, to which I responded, "YOU'D BETTER!". (IT WAS WRITTEN RIGHT ON THE MENU!) She responded with a confrontational sounding,"Oooh!" She rang up the bill and slapped the their copy of the receipt on the counter for me to sign. I controlled myself, signed the receipt, and asked her to break a $10 bill for me for tip money. (The server had been very nice.) She pulled out the change and slapped the cash on the counter with a, "There!"
I was never going to return to this establishment again, anyway, but after the snippy, disrespectful way she treated me, I felt COMPELLED to spread the word that his is not a place for anyone who does not want to risk shabby treatment by the ownership of this place, even when they serve a more than substandard meal...
Read moreWe used to go here every weekend as a family but stopped going as we were yelled at and treated poorly by the restaurant owner. Not only us but we than watched her treat her employees poorly as well. After not going there for three years, this past weekend we decided to give them another shot. Boy we were mistaken!!
After having our dinner, I went to pay our bill. Had trouble with the debit card machine- found out this establishment will not accept your debit card as credit. Which was the only form of payment I had with me. The owner inserted herself into a fine conversation I was having with a waitress and barked at me as to why I wouldn't just put my pin number in. I just explained I recently has my identity stolen and wanted to run my card as a credit card. She continued to yell at me, tell me I am rude and claimed I was accusing them of stealing my identity. All of which, was not the case. I was simply trying to figure out how to pay for my families meal.
It was a very unfortunate interaction, one in which I will not forget nor will I frequent this establishment ever again. Which is extremely unfortunate, because it is close to home and we love supporting local businesses.
I would urge you to think twice before spending your money somewhere that treats their customers poorly, and staff equally bad. I left feeling stressed and anxious and less...
