The Olive Bar — Restaurant in Farmington

Very cozy local bar! Staff is very professional and personable. The bar side is separated from George's pizza restaurant, which is nice to know there are multiple ways to dine. My husband and I came for drinks and appetizers. The old-fashioned Tony made for us was crafted beautifully. He made the drink with finesse that showed he was versed in his craft. (Eta, my drink was full and delicious. I only thought to photograph it after I started drinking it). In the video, I filmed him creating an expresso martini (he did exquisitely dress them with expresso beans after I cut the video). Our apps were the coconut shrimp and jalapeño poppers. The coconut shrimp was delightful and cooked very nicely. It also came with a flavorful dipping sauce. The poppers were good, and as an app, both were portioned appropriately. From the rock-solid reliable menu (courtesy of shared kitchen with George's Pizza adjacent) to the bar and table staff who not only attend to your orders, but genuinely seek to strike up conversation and ensure that you're enjoying yourself while there, this is the sort of standard other wine bars, bar-and-restaurants, and local hangout should be judged by. Weekly combinations of live music, DJs, and house tunes keep the energy up, the bar selection is commendable -- particularly local crafts, bourbons, whiskey and rye -- and as other reviewers have noted, the Greek dishes are the highlight of the menu. They have the most unfriendly staff I have ever seen! I went there on Monday night and tried to catch to watch the UCONN women's basketball game with other fans together. There was not a single TV was on ESPN. Nobody actually was watching all the TVs. I asked the guy behind the bar to change one TV out of nine or ten to ESPN that was broadcasting UCONN women's game. He turned cold and ignorant. If I got a smile, I won't write this review. I may not been there again, but I won't recommend other's do not go. However he was so ignorant. I just spent my money somewhere else, and I do not recommend any huskies fans even try to go...
