Retried Puente this evening after a long hiatus following a few mediocre meals. We had high hopes after noting an uptick in positive ratings. The good news: food was good, especially two more authentic Spanish choices. The Margarita empanadas were yummy and served crisp and piping hot. The couple we were with both had smash burgers and said they were good, though not the best they’ve ever had as one Google reviewer had commented. Now the bad: Though we were seated right away, we waited a good 20 minutes to be acknowledged by our server; he waited on a party of four seated well after us. They had their drinks served and order taken before he even came to our table with water. Of note, it was not very busy (5:15pm). We placed our order. Drinks came fairly quickly (two waters, one glass of wine and one Diet Coke), as did the empanada appetizer. Then we waited and chatted with our companions. We finally all realized that we had been chatting for quite some time since finishing our appetizer. That when we noticed that the table of four that had arrived after us had received their meals, finished eating and had their check when we finally spoke up. After a little scrambling, the manager arrived to apologize for the wait and tell us our food would be out in 8 minutes. 8 minutes? Clearly, they hadn’t placed our entree orders. He offered a round of drinks (did I mention two in our party were drinking water, one has a diet soda, and one had a glass of wine that was still half full?) He then offered to comp desserts, which we declined since none eat sweets. He said he’d circle back with a water refill and to see how we were doing. Never returned. Food finally arrived (now 1.5 hours in) and as mentioned it was served fresh and hot. We enjoyed our food and anticipated some follow up from management e.g. maybe comp our two beverages and or the $9 appetizer? Nothing. Very disappointing. Sad to say, even though we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, there are just too many other tried and true options in the area to give Puente...
Read moreThe first thing I would like to say is that I hope everyone gets the opportunity to try out this restaurant. It wasn't worth the hype for me, but I was raised on this food, and it is very difficult to impress me. I came here with family, and we started with the truffle-lings and fish tacos. These dishes were delicious! I ordered the pan-seared salmon filet. This salmon dish is cooked with a guava and orange glaze that I was excited to taste! I usually see the guava glaze on a red snapper, so I was looking forward to this, as salmon is my favorite fish! I enjoyed my entree! I tried my brother's chicken pincho - it was beautifully seasoned and perfectly smokey. My sister got the papi chulo plate, and unfortunately, this was the most disappointing. The steak was a bit under seasoned, and the white rice tasted plain. However, I do understand how chefs may have to dial down in certain flavors depending on what is popular in the area. The white rice was unimpressive, but the rice that came with my salmon was fantastic! We finished with the flan and the churros. I enjoyed the churros, but the flan definitely had too much egg in it as it was way too firm. The flavor was still good, though, so we still ate it. I did not enjoy the sangria. We got mocktails that were also quite unimpressive. The atmosphere was amazing. They have a lot of live plants, and you get a cozy cafe vibe. The bathrooms were extremely clean and organized. I would love to...
Read moreI've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, Instagram reels have been catfishing me a lot lately. The food was I hate to say this trash, no flavor, nothing. It definitely was not Puerto Rican food, I guess I went there thinking it was. What a huge disappointment. We had the spicy Margarita that wasn't too bad, and the Pomagrante Margarita was also good. The chicken wings fried with no seasoning at all. The jalapeños queso dip was hard as a rock, dry, and we couldn't dip or even use the spoon, it was so hard and dry. We sat next to a couple they ordered entrees, we saw them took like 3bites and made a face, so I leaned over and asked, can I ask how you like the food, she said girl don't waste your time and money. I said I knew it. I told my friend and we all laughed, I said damn Instagram we all burst out laughing again, they said same for us, they drove almost an hour and they said they didn't enjoy anything but the tea, they had. With that being said, we opt not to order entrees and leave and find ourselves at another restaurant for entrees. I will say the decor is very nice and the service was good, the food was not what we expected it was watered-down wanna be spanish food, not authentic at all, no flavor at all. I like to be very honest, It was also pricey, not that matters to me, the food is what I went for. I don't think I would...
