This afternoon at lunchtime I was given a friendly greeting by Liz at the Hotel Weyanoke front desk who directed me to the entrance into Effingham's to the right. From there LaShanna immediately offered a friendly greeting. I asked to sit at the bar and ordered a Classic Chicken Caesar salad with no croutons and iced tea with lemon. The vibrant salad greens came out beautifully, and the grilled chicken on top was so fresh it still had steam coming off of it! However, the staff did an extremely awesome job, suggesting that we use the high top center dining area and managed to keep up with my son that tries his best to drink all the lemonade in the place. Bringing my family to stay at Weyanoke and enjoying Farmville for a quick overnight was such a great idea. Read moreEffingham used to be one if my favorite restaurants in town. The chicken and waffles were the stuff of legend. But it's changed and not a good way. They charge top tier prices for mid food at best. Exs: their salmon and grits taste like came from an instant packet, just add hot water ($26). Their chicken and waffles are served with packets of Smuckers Breakfast Syrup, made with high fructose corn syrup and no actual maple ($28). Either lower your prices or improve the food quality guys.
