Went to purchase 2 large white chocolate lattes with a total of 5 shots of espresso in each and 2 sausage egg and cheese bagels ($5.75 each). The lady didn’t know how to operate the register. At first she told me my total was $51 and change, when I looked at the receipt it said $59 and change. I looked at the receipt and noticed the lady didn’t charge me correctly. When I went up to speak with her about it, she was unwilling to take a look at it. She was more condescending and not explanatory of the charges. I was charged $13.40 for 2 flavored lattes An additional $3.00 for syrup An additional $17.50 for 10 shots of espresso (Last I knew, a latte comes with espresso) That would be $33.90 just for coffee, definitely a mistake. She didn’t overcharge on the sausage egg and cheese. To top it off, when you look at the receipt, I was charged for a large party gratuity $6.81 (for two people) Rather than explain or fix any of this, the two staff members became argumentative to the point I asked for my money to be returned. Felt like I was spoken to like a child, from children who are incompetent. Do not purchase here and if you do, keep them on their toes. They are like thief’s but with a business license. It’s funny how the owner responds with such a condescending tone, but never addresses the issue. It’s a notorious problem. Look at the reviews. Yet I have a problem. Maybe your coffee shop should be serving Folgers, since that’s the type of customer service you receive there. And I never called your staff stupid. I called them incompetent. Seems like I should have used what they said.

There aren't a lot of places in downtown Farmville to eat so Uptown is kind of the place to go if you're looking to get a little lunch/brunch while you're in town. It was a pretty solid three stars for us. It's a pretty standard cafe with coffee, some breakfast sandwiches and other sides. We ordered a breakfast sandwich on a croissant as well as two BLEATS (I think that's what they were called?), some lattes and chocolate milk, then took our seats. Then came the wait. We came on a Sunday morning around 11am, which is like the peak after-church hour so it was a little busy and I can grant if the service is a little slower than usual. But it was not crazy by any means. Nevertheless, we waited about 30 minutes for our food to come out. We sat in a place where we could see the kitchen and let me tell you, the wait was not because the sandwiches were being made from scratch. The whole meal was over $40, so you would have expected it. When our food finally did come out the first thing I saw was a nice, brown hair hanging off my avocado. But I suppose the wait was helpful because, at this point, we were so hungry that I just picked it off and dug right in. The food itself was good, nothing to write home about, but good and filling. All in all, the meal was fine. If I found myself back in Farmville, I might stop back in again (because, where else are you going to go?), but wouldn't go out of my way to get here.

This place has such good potential, but is quite disappointing. I'm in from out of town and came here to work for a few hours. The staff member there was obviously having a bad day, which happens. I was third in line and she sat on the phone for a long time, ignoring the customers in line. When it finally became my turn, she left and went to the back, no worries maybe she had some other customer to attend to, so I waited patiently. Eventually I was helped and tried my best to bring some light to her day with a smile and kind words—which made her annoyed. Whatever, move on and keep going. Sit down to work and the wifi doesn't work, it won't let me connect, just keeps spinning and my computer is warning me it's an unsecure network, so I end up having to use my hot spot with no wifi. No big deal, I'll survive.

Eventually I have to go to the bathroom, and I am floored by how dirty it is. The sink is totally disgusting, at first I think it's stained but nope, it has just not been cleaned in ages. I have OCD, so I end up cleaning it as best I can with some paper towels, and don't you know it comes clean super easy—no one cared enough to even try to clean it.

I decide to give this place another chance and come back the next day and there's a half ripped up piece of paper with a scribble on it that says "sorry closed"—on a Thursday at 8:30am. I've already paid the meter at this point, so I'm annoyed.

Like I said this place has good potential, but it's obviously run very poorly. Won't be going back. Luckily there was a much cleaner coffee shop just down the street where the staff was welcoming...
