I woke up craving donuts and a drive, so I loaded up my faithful companion, Biscuit the corgi, and picked the third closest option on Google maps. Fate and luck were with me, as that sent me to Donuts Donuts.
The restaurant is housed in the remains of an old sonic drive-in, and it put me in mind of one of those tidy little vendor shops from Fallout. I love that vibe. I was reminded of my favorite restaurant from my home town; a strangely liminal pho shop stuffed inside an old gas station.
The proprietor of the shop was exceptionally kind and friendly, especially for 7 in the morning! We chatted about our dogs, how they are spoiled but family, and she even tossed in a few plain donut holes for my Biscuit!
The price was very fair at $9 for 3 fresh donuts and 2 kolaches. And the donuts? Melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The potato and cheese kolache was soft and bouncy, the bread sweet and the filling savory. Biscuit was going mad for the bag. Fortunately, I had gotten him a mini sausage kolache of his own, so I didn't have to share mine.
As I pulled out of the parking lot, I told Biscuit that we would definitely be coming back here. Thank you for the perfect...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've only gone here once so far but they didn't really make me want to come back. Parking lot was in disarray, counter-tops were chipped and dirty, and they were lacking several items even though the store was only open for three hours at that point. The donuts themselves were also really dry and you couldn't really get any other taste than artificial sugar. Most likely won't return.
(In response to the owner's comment) You know, I may have been a little harsh to give one star so I'll go ahead and give it two. But there's no way I'd be able to give it more based on my experience. Yes, selling the majority of your items within 3 hours is good for profits. However, it makes a guest really dissatisfied when they aren't able to get what they came there to buy and then having to settle with mediocre substitutes. Maybe a few of your donuts are worthy of being called one of the best in town, however I wouldn't know because you failed to meet demand. Furthermore, "disarray" does not equal "packed." In fact, the parking lot was nearly void of cars save my own and two others. By disarray I was referring to the cleanliness of the outside which...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATES** STILL DONāT RECOMMEND IT. The response to my review is utter retaliation and hostility. Taking pride in what you do is great. But taking pride in how terrible the customer service seems very unprofessional. None of what was 10 months ago is a LIE! It sounds as though the employee that slammed the door was the one who replied to this review. No one has time to abuse your employees. Accusations based on personal opinions will not make you sound credible. Iāve no doubt that by now heās either quit or you fired him. Donāt attach your customers, look within and fix the problems. Plenty of businesses that do a better job than this one are within walking distance.
The guy running the drive thru window today has a horrible attitude. So slamming the door on customers and not giving them what they requested for wasnāt enough for him so he went a step further by saying, āWell your two years old will just have to deal with it. OKAY Itās not my problemā why not just give the proper items for orders. Nothing but flat out attitude!!!!!
GET A DIFFERENT JOB IF YOU CANNOT...
