Island flava??? More like “ISLAND FLAVORLESS”. This place has potential but it was disappointing. First off the fish and rice and peas lacked flavor. It was a disappointment to my husband who was starving all day. You’re better off going to Salt N Pepper by compare foods. 10/10!!! They served my husband water in a Pepsi Cola grey cup and it tasted like soda. It was the kind of cup you have in your house after collected it from a fast food restaurant or a cousins house. Hilarious but unprofessional. The restaurant opened late. When you make people wait after 3pm I would HOPE the food would be amazing but it WAS NOT. If you open at 3pm, make sure employees open the door by 2:55pm AT LEAST. Make sure your employees are inside to OPEN THE DOORS for customers who should not spend their money here. The restaurant is dark and in need of a renovation. The place could look more inviting if it weren’t for the burgundy walls and the lack of light. The air was not on nor were the fans. I had to fan myself with the menu, it’s embarrassing. Especially when it’s 80 degrees outside. The employees should be in the business 15-20 minutes before opening to get the air going and the place ready for customers. It was uncomfortable and musty. The lack of alcohol supply makes this place look empty, although I do not consume alcohol the establishment needs to stock up. It looks dry in there. Especially when you are a “lounge” everyday during certain hours. The music, food, nor the aesthetic gives “Jamaican vibes” AT ALL. Bring Jamaica to me, don’t make me fly to Jamaica in order to experience it. I’m supposed to gain the experience from the restaurant if it’s going to exploit the culture. At other carribean restaurants in Fayetteville, the ambiance makes you feel as if you are on the island. This place does not. Also, nobody’s relative should be lying on the red couch in the restaurant. It’s unprofessional.
The only PRO is the server, she was helpful and kind. But the place is in need of a big renovation. From the food quality to the aesthetic, it does not look inviting or welcoming. I would not recommend bringing someone here for a date. This restaurant is better off turning into a drive thru during daytime hours because no one wants to sit inside a depressing...
Read moreWe were here this past Sunday before 7pm. It was not crowded at all. There were no one sitting at the tables except, what I can only assume is someone who has stake in the business as he finally went to help the one and only front of the house staff member after an hour of people coming in and out and waiting. The front of tge house person, took our orders and made our drinks. I ordered a long Island, which was full of sour mix and had to be remade, in which she did and the second one was much better. We ordered the jerk chicken quest wraps, it took over 35 minutes to get. When it came out it was hot, stuffed, and very good. We ordered the stewed chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, curry goat, rice and peas, and macaroni and cheese. Well after now waiting an hour or more we are told they were out of macaroni and cheese so I ordered plantains. When the food came out steam was coming from it but it was all a facade because in the middle the food was luke warm, not hot at all. We ordered a Pepsi with the meal and we didn't get it until we were about to box our food to go. People were coming in and out and waiting for over an hour, then were told they were out of particular items. Everything on their menu is not available as advertised. The flavors of the food was good but not having food items, being slack on the gravey and forcing customers who dine in to only order larger portions, and they were no where near large portions. I'm on the fence on returning because I have eaten at other island food establishments and there food was just as good and their portions are...
Read moreTODAY MY BEST FRIEND AND I WENT TO ISLAND FLAVA FOR OUR EDS MEETING AND LUNCH. FROM THE WORD GO OUR EXPERIENCE, WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD, FROM THE MOMENT WE WALKED INTO THE RESTAURANT, THE GENTLEMAN OPEN THE DOORS FOR US, PULLED OUT BOTH OF OUR CHAIRS, HE WAS VERY POLITE. HE BROUGHT BOTH OF US TALL ICE COLD GLASSES OF WATER, AFTERWARDS HE CAME AND ASKED WHAT WOULD BE OUR DRINK ORDERS. WE TOLD HIM WE WANT LEMON TEA, HE CAME BACK AND SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE THIS TYPE OF TEA, THEN WE ASKED IF HE HAD FRUIT JUICE AND HE SAID YES, BUT IT WASN'T THE KIND WE'RE USE TO DRINKING. WE ENDED UP ORDERING SPRITE FOR OUR DRINK, OUR GENTLEMEN TOOK OUR ORDER, WE BOTH ORDERED OXTAILS CABBAGE AND CARROTS, MY BEST FRIEND HAD WHITE RICE, WHILE I HAD RICE AND PEAS. WHEN OUR FOOD ARRIVED IT WAS DELIVERED TO OUR TABLE IN STYLE WITH GRACE, AND ELEGANCE. OUR GENTLEMEN MADE SURE WE HAD EVERYTHING WE NEED AND WANTED WITH OUR MEAL. HE CHECK ON US DURING OUR MEAL. ONCE WE WERE DONE I ASKED FOR THE CHECK, WE PAID, GOT OUR THINGS AND WERE HEADING OUT THE DOOR WHEN HE CAME UP TO US AND SAID HE WOULD SEE US OUT, ONCE AGAIN OPENING THE DOOR FOR US. THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD TO THIS DAY. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR MAKING US FEEL WELCOME AND VALUED, AS A CUSTOMER TODAY. ALSO TODAY IS OUR GENTLEMEN BIRTHDAY. WISHING HIM MANY MORE.
