Our first visit there was amazing. Fantastic food. Great service. Very kind and patient waiter who went through the menu with me to make sure I knew what I could and couldn’t eat. I have food allergies including celiac disease. Things were made in house with rice paper. Nothing wheat went in the fryer. There were lots of things to choose from.
At some point I started getting sick after I went. Celiac reactions are delayed 24 to 48 hours and it can be hard to know what got you. I chalked it up to something else. Couldn’t have been Mae’s. I had such conscientious reassurance they knew what they were doing. Must have been something from somewhere else.
Last visit, I double checked. The waitress didn’t seem to even know wheat allergies or celiac exist. She brought me the package from the mass produced spring rolls. (Not made in house anymore) Wheat was listed. I pointed out all the things listed as rice paper or rice noodles still on the menu.
Those all had wheat now. She said the ingredients had changed. Gave no reason why. New management? I pointed out that they haven’t bothered to change either the printed menu or the online menu and that people could get sick. She was upset and defensive but promised me that would do it right away. After taking only our drink order, she sent another waitress. I had not yelled or made a scene, and I found that insulting.
It has been over a month now. The menus online all still say rice paper. We will never go there again. People should be careful. I wouldn’t trust them at all with any...
Read moreI love Thai food so I was uber excited when a new Thai restaurant said coming soon. I was online and discovered they were open for business so I hopped up from my nap and decided to treat myself to lunch. It is a small modern restaurant. It has been renovated and you can tell they are still working on it. Now, lets talk about this food. I love the menu. I have attached pictures of the menu and the food. I love a good cheese roll and their cheese rolls did not disappoint if you like a crab rangoon from a Chinese restaurant than you will love the cheese rolls. I also had their shrimp rolls which were awesome along with the sweet chili sauce. My must try dish when I go to any Thai restaurant is Pad Se Ew and this one didn't disappoint either. I absolutely loved that the noodles were not clumped together. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The only critic is there could have been more broccoli since that is suppose to be the star of the dish. I rarely get dessert but I made an exception this time and I got the mango and sweet sticky rice. I was amazingly good. The sesame seeds that were toasted along with the sweet cream on top of the sticky rice gave the right balance. The one item I did not give them 5 stars on was the overall customer service. The waiter was far more attentive to tables that had more than 1 person, as I was a solo eater. The young lady who I believed was the owner/manager saved the day by coming over several times and filling my glass because the waiter did not. I will be back because the food...
Read moreMae's was a very enjoyable dining experience with great food, superior service and a comfortable ambiance. The amount of delicious food is well worth the very reasonable cost. We will definitely be placing them into our favorites list. Looking forward to exploring more of the menu.
To the details, as starters my companion and I shared an order of Basil Rolls and Shrimp with plum / peanut dipping sauce. The presentation was visually appealing. The rolls themselves were delicious. All of the vegetables and herbs tasted fresh and complemented each other. The shrimp in the rolls were plump, firm and tender with a pleasingly fresh flavor. For our main course my companion had the Grand Daughter's Yellow Curry with Shrimp and I chose the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with Beef. The Curry was delicious with the potatoes, carrots and shrimp all cooked perfectly. The flavorful Curry gray was to the requested spice level. The Drunken Noodles were cooked al'dente with a delicious deeply beefy flavored gravy. The beef was tender and tasty. The vegetables stir fried to a crispy crunch with some very tasty char on the peppers. One thing we both liked was the option to choose the heat level of our dishes. We both chose hot (3 chili's) which was just right for our taste buds. Mae's offers heat levels from Mild ( 1 Chili ) to Thai Super Hot (5 Chili's) with a caveat to " just...
