This Is It! Southern Kitchen & Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Fayetteville

Usually I’ve eaten here before and would recommend the establishment. Date November 7, 2023 at around 5 pm. Today after a long flight, I decided to stop in and grab dinner for the family. Everything was good up until the point of confusion on their part. Ordered 2 of their 2 for $35 dinners. Noticed that the wings (the small ones) weren’t on the board. So I asked if it was possible to do those as the special. The gentleman at the counter said sure. With my son standing right there we both ordered that. He said it would be a moment before they come out so I proceeded to pay. $75 and some change. When they were finally out. Some very rude woman who I assume was the manager said NO BABY we can’t do that! First of all, I’m your customer and NOT YOUR BABY!!! If the gender roles were reversed, it would be a bigger issue. So I said that’s fine. Let’s take the $35 that I already paid and credit it to the regular price menu of your smoked wings and I’ll be glad to pay the difference. Again she got a little more rude and loud and continued with I can’t do that baby because we don’t give refunds. Bewildered I looked at her and politely said I didn’t want a refund but to credit the $35 to the 2 orders of wings and would be happy to pay the difference. Basically, math isn’t her forte. What it boiled down to was I would have owed $5 or so and it would equal out. Her response was oh no baby we have to keep the inventory on the wings. Having worked in the restaurant business and knowing that bulk wings when cooked or transferred to the kitchen, sometimes gets dropped, overcooked or even come in the shipment not fit to be served. So apparently the wings would have thrown their entire inventory so off that they couldn’t simply do the math and take the difference and call it a day. That will be the last time I will visit your establishment because of 3 things 1 your female manager needs some real managerial training 2 in this day in time saying things like baby to a customer is not a good look. Again, if it were a man speaking to a female, that female could take that as derogatory or even sexual in nature. 3 the food was horrible. Ribs dry and tough, banana pudding was very runny, fish tasteless The ONLY person that looked like he wanted to work and enjoyed what he did was the man who greeted us and started our order. Honestly he should be the manager. If these women are still working there, I would turn around and go elsewhere. It was simple math and I’m positive that the wing inventory would have not broken the bank! Once again I’ve been coming and supporting this restaurant for years but today’s experience changed that for myself, my family and any friends that ask me about you. (Latest review after relocating) I came into town off a flight and just wanted something light. I ordered online and got this anemic, small stamp of salmon for $25.00. the tiny cornbread is larger than this. I remember how slow this place is so I wanted to have my order ready versus taking 40 minutes, but I was completely bamboozled and tricked but the tiny portion, lack of vegetables on top and the appearance of it being microwaved versus freshly baked. Just stop selling the item of it's too much for you to afford and it can't be up to normal food standards. Theft by lack of food is enough to make me not come back when I visit in town. It's a shame that I could just go to a chain restaurant, have less of a wait but get more food for my money. Lesson learned. (Original review 3 years prior) Staff are very nice and somewhat friendly but they are VERY DISORGANIZED and SUPER SLOW. Nobody really understands multitasking and they'll have you wait in line for items that are supposed to be served daily that they no longer have that day.

Also they check you in with your meal and constantly forget your sides but require that you tell them the sides in order to input it in their system. Why don't they just go back to their screen and reread it??? Disorganized.

Most of the food is good most days. If you ever have a grill item they close the grills early which sucks and they will have you wait with a short amount of people in a long, draining wait time line only to tell you when you get up front that they can't make your item.

The only thing that makes me kinda come back is that most staff is friendly (some are just confused and scrambled) and most food items are good. The horrible wait time and dysfunction definitely makes it to where sometimes I want something from them but I'll pass to avoid a headache.

Don't be confused. The line could just have you in it and it could still take 30 minutes just to get checked out from a non grill/already prepared order. Not the place to go on a lunch...

Food quality and customer service has gone down a lot the past few times I've been there. The last time I went, which was about 2 weeks ago, I went there with a friend and we both were getting the same thing, smothered porkchops. The young man that was taking our order said that there's only one pork chop left and that he ain't going to be able to give us both the pork chops. We asked you how long would it be before the next batch come out, now mind you it's just after 5 pm. The guy stated that it may take about 25 minutes before they're up. I told him that we can wait until they're ready. They guy continue to make one of our orders and that's when I stopped him and asked if he could just make both of them once the new batch is out and that's when he went and made a loud sigh and toss the to-go plate that he was making to the side took off his apron and just walked away we stood looking crazy try to figure out what was the problem. We sat down and waited and after about 20-25 minutes a young lady came up to us and say that we go ahead and pay for our order that they bringing out the pork chops right now. They ask us if we like to have the bed of rice in it I said yes. so once we made it home to enjoy the meal, I noticed that the rice was totally uncook I mean I'm literally eating raw rice that was mixed with over cooked rice.
