Marley's Café & Lounge — Restaurant in Fayetteville

I can't believe I haven't been here before! The fact they survived through COVID just 2 months after opening the business (insane) but this place is pretty awesome. I stopped after work, hangry as all get out, because I saw a post on Fayetteville Foodies that touted Marley's. So I decided to eat there. The atmosphere immediately drew my attention. Comfy furniture, chill decor, not overdone. (I didn't think to take pictures). Then Alex, the sultry bombshell behind the bar with awesome ink, welcomed me with open arms. Her personality made me want to hang out and I ordered a drink. An Old Fashioned, not the best in the world, certainly not better than mine, 😉... But it was good and her fun and friendly character made it much more palatable. I perused the menu, found my mind wandering to the pictures I had seen online, and I couldn't decide. So I asked Alex what she liked. She wasn't very specific, in fact, she likes practically everything on the menu! 😂 But I decided on the Marleys pasta, which was awesome! Beef Sausage, Red onions, peppers. Sautéed in an asiago alfredo sauce. Served over penne pasta, with garlic bread. (Although, I received no garlic bread, but I wasn't even paying attention). It was delicious. And not just because I was HANGRY. .. If you like bland, boring food, DO NOT COME TO MARLEY'S! This place is for Foodies! This post will cause a disturbance but honestly my " Give a damn is busted!" Marleys Lounge and Cafe is a local business. This business, due to its cleanliness and owners’ business ethics, morals, and values should not be supported!!! Mr. Donovan allows appliances to break or not work properly because he does not care to fix them. For example, the hot water heater is broken for over 6 months. Not only a severe health code violation but also compromised every customer that ate at his establishment. It is fixed; however, this speaks to his morals. The roach and bug problems are also other issues that go unfixed and overlooked. He does not choose to have the proper chemicals to fix the issue or hire outside companies to address the issue! The cleanliness of the kitchen is severely lacking!!! Yes, this post comes from anger. Anger because this employer owes me over $1000 in unpaid wages. This is the type of action from a small business owner that should not be overlooked. Mr. Donovan has many complaints from previous employees who were not paid. I am one of few. That is why I felt this post was necessary. This speaks to his business ethics! I am sure my character, workmanship, and other habits will be addressed and that is ok. This post is absolute truth and the things I left out are because they can be used against me and take away from the more important issues that need to be addressed! I had been wanting to visit Marley's for awhile as I'm intentional about spending money with my own. My mother arrived on Saturday 11/4/23 around 8pm and it was not crowded. A total of 8 people and two of those were my mother and I. It was way too dark in there. We like to see what we are eating. They had one person who worked the bar, took the orders and served the food. Thank goodness is was slow. We watched one guy who had to go to the bar each time he wanted a drink. I waited 15 minutes for a bottle of water due to being short staff. I ordered the 8 piece wing, half and half dry lemon pepper and wet hot honey. All my wings were hot honey and the server said the cook forgot to do half and half and states the cook said he can put lemon pepper on top of my hot honey. I declined of course because what????? My chicken was not hot at all. I do not like cold food unless it's supposed to be. My mother order fried ribs and they were not seasoned and they were cold. We did not eat all of our food we asked for a to go box which was the best thing they had. We had to go home and and use the air fryer and season our food. Then.....they charged 12% for weekend service. Really??? For what??? Do better. I was expecting so much from this place and had even recommended people based off their site and even after reading reviews that were split. Big disappointment. Will never be back.
