The place it self was nice but the cooks in the back ALL of them didn’t look clean (uniform,exposed facial hair,LOCS not in a bun or pony tail) the cashier gave me misinformation about wether I could take my drink to-go so I ended up shoveling down what I could and leaving the rest as our food became available! The drink was $16 after taxes and I left a $2 tip for just the drink so I was annoyed I couldn’t take the rest with me. My food was the worst, they actually sat my fish on top of my grits without anything to separate the two like parchment paper, by the time we got home my fish was soggy with the grits and I don’t like that. Also didn’t like how many RED BELL PEPERS they used NOT SWEET PEPERS like the description says ! The PEPPERS were all I could taste ! This meal was $33 for my guy and I and he hated his food as well ! His fries were hard and cold his Whiting was fried so hard on one side I tapped it on our counter just to be funny. I paid $4.75 for the smallest amount of greens that was supposed to have smoked Turkey meat , didn’t even have a bone ( ate one bite and it was gross seasoned nasty and slightly sweet yuck) ! The fish was literally UNSEASONED not even salt or pepper ! I am sooo disappointed with this place. When I saw how understaffed they were to the point the server was the only server and she still had to buss her own tables , that should have been my que to leave no managers to manage a terrible situation. The workers were awesome ladies , but my food was God Awful ! From appearance to taste just awful :( I broke my fish up over my very hard grits and still only hard a bite or two I just couldn’t ! In the pics my food is just gross and my guy tried to eat what he could the “Roll” they provided hard as hell too, my dude ate what was soft. We gave those hard fries (some) to our dogs , even they just looked at them. My guy did like the Macaroni and Cheese though. I still have the other pieces of fish sitting back in the container, they just aren’t pictured here. I would like a refund honestly and to speak with a manager about this establishment. Yes, Covid has taken its toll on many people, so when I have a little extra money to spend on a nice sit-down meal during these hard times, it is my hope to be able to sit down and eat instead of watching the employees eat fast food in front of me. Responses to customers lack accountability and shifts blame onto the person leaving the review instead of fixing the problem that lead to the review in the first place.
I was the first customer at 10 and was told there was a wait “because of the kitchen”. While getting out of my car I did see an employee get dropped off, so maybe he was part of the kitchen crew? Anyway, I was quoted a 10-15 minute wait by a very kind hostess, and honestly she was the most pleasant part of my visit. During that time, several customers came in, heard the wait time and left. We came ready to eat, so after 20 minutes, we took our name off the list and went elsewhere. As we were exiting, one woman went out of her way to yell “drive safe and come back to see us! Have a great day!” yet no one paid that much attention to us while we were waiting, nor was anyone offering drinks to customers. Employees were walking in with Bojangles and eating at the takeout register- others walking around without a mask. Looking at previous reviews, opening late seems to be a trend here. This was my first visit, so this review was going to be three stars, but after seeing the trend, I’m taking it down to one in hopes this gets Management’s attention as they only respond to positive reviews on here. A business can only afford so many losses like this before it begins to fail. I have since tried calling before coming in to inquire on wait time, and the phone either rang until it went to voicemail, or it was busy. Three times calling and I’m no longer going to beg to try this beautifully crafted menu....

Because I only went there and was seated, but got right back up and left. The atmosphere deserves 0 stars, but I had to choose something. Again, to be fair, I have never tried the food. It does look very good, and I was excited when I pulled in to go inside and eat. When I walked in, it was warm and felt kind of muggy. I don't like to be in a humid, warm atmosphere. When I'm eating dinner or lunch or any meal. The hostess told me it would be about 3 minutes before my wait, which I didn't understand because there were probably 20 open tables. However, I do know how the business works. So I was perfectly fine with waiting. I sat down in the very front on a wooden bench type platform. I was looking over the menu to try to see what I wanted to eat and ask my daughter what she would like to try when all of a sudden I see cockroaches ( plural ) crawling by my feet. I immediately stood up, and as I was getting ready to walk out, the hostess said our table was ready. Because I feel like I should give them the benefit of the doubt. I went ahead and followed her to the table with my daughter. Once we sat down, I had not told my daughter what had happened. Then my daughter looks at me and says, "Mom, there's a cockroach over there on the floor." I stood up, told her to stand up, and walked out, and I would not be returning. I'm sure the food is excellent. However, I will not eat from a dirty restaurant. That is warm in muggy with cockroaches crawling under my feet. I really wish that experience was different because I was super excited to try this restaurant! Sorry, Uptown, I tried, but you failed at cleanliness. Maybe one day I will be able to try the food. But honestly, I don't think I would be able to put it in my mouth after seeing what I saw....
