We had high hopes for this steak house. The waitress was huffy after she delivered my rum Runner sans the grenadine I requested. She replied that they added cherry juice. My reply was if it had grenadine it would be red. Anyway after I tasted my drink, there was a metallic taste. We figured it came from the can from the juice they used. My husband asked for an Old Fashioned. He told us he was pretty sure it was not an OF and he did not know what it was. My mother later asked for a drambuie. She was served a scotch. After we pointed it out to the waitress a drambuie was produced. The steaks were tasty but stringy. The vegetables were over done. It was possible that the broccoli wss from the day before. The baked potatoes were ok. For the hype of "the best steak in town" we were so disappointed by this experience. The desserts were just ok. We took our 90 year old mother and 93 year old father. We were hoping for a pleasant experience but this is not what happened.

If you live or vacation on the South End of Amelia Island, Baxter's is a local staple. The bar is always packed with locals and fun bartenders. Baxter's lives up to its reputation as a local "Cheers!" establishment. That being said, it caters more towards tastes of an elderly clientele (mostly standard, bland-ish fare.) This is not necessarily a bad thing. Baxter's knows what its customers want and has been in business for years. The steak was well seasoned and flavorful, if a bit on the chewy side. The shrimp was fresh, and felt like healthly, tasty option. The calamari was a table favorite and the dipping sauce was surprisingly spicy and flavorful. However, it was extremely hot in the resturant section and I don't know how people handle it during the dog days of summer! Plan for a winter, spring or autumn visit for maximum enjoyment.

I would highly recommend most of the seafood. My girlfriend's mahi was breaded and fried to perfection. They should just not serve the bread, its tough and cold. The surf and turf is not a $55 steak and lobster. The steak was not bad, I just don't see this as being the best steakhouse in the Amelia island area, as its promoted. The lobster tail was a little rubbery but still ok. Baked potato was super dry and the green beans tasted kind of old and warmed up. The salad had one tomato, one onion slice, one cucumber slice, and one green pepper slice on a bed of arugula. Which isn't the worst salad ever served. On a $55 plate I would expect a little more. Our server was fast and attentive, very good service. So if you go with fried seafood I think it's a win.

Without a doubt, the most terrible experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Please note, I was a doordash driver when I had the displeasure of visiting this establishment, so I can't comment on how their food tastes. But I will say, how whoever was in charge of takeout that night treated me upon arrival will turn me away from ever eating or even going near this place for eternity.

I had what is known as a 'red card order' meaning I had to order food and pay with the mastercard they provided me with. The pay was good and the distance was reasonable so I didn't think much of it and took the order. Upon arrival the takeout manager immediately changed his tone as soon as he figured out I was with doordash and rudely greeted me. He was very manipulative and volatile as I was attempting to place the order per the app's instructions. Things were confusing as it didn't appear to be adding up. "One Ribeye and a Chicken Masala" I stated. He began to get short with me, asking weird questions about a salad dressing for the second salad (I was only supposed to receive one salad). I denied there being a second salad and attempted to show him the app to verify, he said in a extremely rude tone: "JUST READ IT TO ME." At this point I was uncomfortable dealing with this guy as he was twisting my words around and making it extremely difficult to place this order.

Finally I paid and waited to get my order. 20 minutes later he comes out with two of the same order and tells me that I ordered one for myself and the customer's order was already placed before I arrived. This was false because the app never said that the order had been placed already. I of coarse was frustrated and said that I wasn't going to pay for the mysterious 2nd order and then he was INCREDIBLY mean towards me and demanded that I pay for this food. He began attacking me as a doordash driver and making me look stupid in front of the whole restaurant saying "This is your fault, why would anyone be wanting to work for doordash???" "You Guys are awful' 'Doordash is the worst company in the world" And many other harsh things. He then demanded that I call doordash support and force them to pay for this order. They did not answer my call because they are ONLY offering support to merchants during COVID-19. Once I told him this he literally yelled at me "YOU ARE NOT LEAVING UNTIL YOU PAY FOR THIS FOOD" so me, in a state of complete and utter anger at this point, took out my wallet, literally threw my PERSONAL credit card down of the counter and yelled back, "THERE, PAY FOR IT" and left. The guy even REFUSED TO GIVE ME A RECEIPT.

Upon arrival at the customer's house over AN HOUR late, I presented them with their food and when they opened it up, they commented that the Chicken Masala "Was some sort of Asian food" and even asked if their order was correct. I looked at it and it indeed looked nothing like Chicken Masala but instead was some shredded chicken over brown gravy. The food looked absolutely terrible, of the likes I have NEVER seen at that price. I took home the duplicate order for myself for dinner and THEY LITERALLY FORGOT TO GIVE ME THE RIBEYES THAT I PAID FOR. and instead I opened up a Chicken Masala and two salads. The salads were literally wilted pieces of romaine lettuce with two tomatoes and a bell pepper. I threw the food away because it looked so awful.

Anyways, singlehandedly the most PATHETIC and TOXIC experience i have ever had at a restaurant. Will never go back UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I would have rated 0/5 stars but since it made me...

This was our 3rd time to Amelia Island. Part of our previously wonderful experience was dining at Baxter's Restaurant. Not this time. In fact it was the exact opposite. We made a reservation and were seated. We were plopped down behind a person with a very loud, obnoxious, and alcohol fueled voice. It took a long time for the waitress to even acknowledge our presence. I very politely asked our waitress if we could be moved as sitting behind the drunk was going to be intolerable. She snapped at me like an elderly Pomeranian. Told us to "go talk to the front desk". So, I spoke to the manager-owner who, as it turned out, could have cared less. We ended up walking out and went to a restaurant in downtown Fernandina. Baxter's doesn't even make a pretense of caring about anything other than your money. It rests on a previous reputation, doesn't care about its customers, obviously continues to generate the money, and has some nasty staff including the...
