Finally- not only an Indian restaurant but an outstanding one! I lived the last 9 years in an area that had more Indian restaurants than McDonald's (really). In a 10 mile radius around my house there were at least 9.
Curry Island is just as good as is gets. The flavors and execution of the dishes are amazing. So many incredible flavors in each dish.
Garlic Butter Naan. Best I ever had. period. full stop. Insanely good. Whoever said 'man cannot live on bread alone' never ate this naan.
Saag Veg and it was just pefect. Creamy, slightly on the thicker side, packed full of brocc, carrots, onions, spices.
Butter trio - chick, shrimp, lamb. Again, fantastic.
Basil Chicken. Although this was on the Tandor section of the menu, the photo on the very nice iPad-based menus made it appear to be more of a soup-based preparation but that was not the case. It was chunks of white chicken with a basic paste baked onto the chicken in the oven.
The photo on the menu also shows the Basil Chicken with chicken legs, which is misleading and my wife was a little disappointed because the prefers legs over breast. Regardless, the dish was very good, though I prefer saucy mains, like the curries, so I'll probably not order this one again. Even with this issue, it's still a 5 star experience.
Staff were wonderful. Seems to be a husband/wife +partner operation and they could not be nicer, checking on us regularly and genuinely engaged. Steph was so nice and took good care of us.
Only issue- I will want to eat here weekly (or more!) and I'll crush my dining budget far too quickly, so it will have to be a disciplined relationship for sure! ...
Read moreI live in Yulee. Folks, no matter how much traffic is on A1A, it is absolutely worth going over the bridge. Our waitress was super patient and friendly, and she brought water to the table so we could refill ourselves. Every dish that I tried was seasoned to perfection. The naan was soft, warm, and a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Pictured is the chicken tikka masala, which is better than the tikka masala I had in England, the garlic naan, the basmati rice, and the tamarind sauce that was served with our delicious samosas. They did not last long enough for a picture. I can't wait to come back...
Read moreI had the Malai Kabobs… medium spice. It was very good . The rice was light with no spice or flavor. It was perfect to go with the spicy kabob. The Garlic Curry Naan … YES PLEASE! It was so fresh and good. I give the atmosphere 3 starts only because there was incense burning when they first opened. It was very intense Fragrance and incense triggers, my migraines, and allergies which is not pleasant for a dining experience. Since may people are triggered by fragrance… I highly recommend not burning incense or using...
