Called and ordered a large pizza and breadsticks. The gal with long strawberry blonde hair is the one that took my order, my name and told me it would be 15/20 minutes. Ok. Cool. I drive there wait in line to be told there is nothing for me like I never called and ordered. Then the dude in the front questioned if I called Jacksonville which I offered to show him my phone with number and time called so he could see is was Fernandina Beach. He then says they have nothing what was the order. So I told him and he told me he would get that taken care of since I had already waited and it was their mistake he would get it covered give them 10 minutes. I waited another 20. Then went to the front and he rang it up and I said I thought this was taken care of since you literally were at fault and this was your mistake, the very least you could do is put the breadsticks on the house. He pulled the boxes back a little and said yeah we don’t do that here. Then why tell me after it was clearly your mistake that you’d get it taken care of since it was never even put in. Told me he would talk to whoever to have it taken care of to us waiting longer and then him completely backtracking on what he said. So yeah...he’s right, they don’t do that there...meaning good customer service. Your mistake...the least you could do is offer something somehow to make it right. I ended up waiting from my first call to getting it almost an hour. The rude dude In front was heavy set, burly beard and cocky. Y’all need better representation and people up front. Yeesh.
Save yourself the headache of mediocre pizza and head to Townies! WAY BETTER food and customer service each time I’ve gone with a much better menu! This is the second time we have tried moonriver and won’t make that mistake again! We will recommend Townies each and every time...
Read moreMoon River is what would have happened to your favorite pizza place if it had fallen down the rabbit hole. You'll find it tucked away in a sleazy strip mall on 14th street. Despite the location people are crazy for the pies from this spot, and with good reason. The menu has been painted on the wall in neon paint, and looks like its breaking through the wall. Everywhere you'll find fun things around that remind you about the free spirited ambiance that moon river prides itself on. I would venture to guess that their most popular pizza is their white pizza. I prefer their special pizza because its full of meat and veggies that are substantial in size and give you a satisfying crunch when compared to the chain pizza places paper thin toppings. Pizza's come fast (for a pizza place) and while you wait you can enjoy some of their beer or wine that they serve to make the dining experience complete. Don't assume that only pizza rules moon river, they also have some killer salads. Its worth trying if your looking for a casual bite to eat, but don't want to go overboard on a huge pie. I'll give moon river thumbs up because there pies are great. I like nothing more then to get one to go and watch a really crappy movie across the street. That being said just sitting a drinking my weight in beer is also a good use of my time and their pizza. They get knocks because there isn't much choice about their pizza (no thin crust and no deep dish), sure you can build your own but if your looking for some really gormet pizza then look elsewhere. That being said moon river is my first choice for pizza...
Read moreHave visited twice and both time the food was amazing. Great balance of flavors on these pizzas! We did “THE” pizza and trex this time along with the breadsticks. It’s like the perfect level of flavors in the ingredients and the cheese is cheeeeezy without being the only thing you taste or being wildly greasy/oily.
The location doesn’t stand out as you’re driving by as it’s in a mostly empty strip anchored on the corner by a gas station. Inside, you have a menu on the wall to your left as well as some extras over the counter. You order at the counter and receive your drinks at that time too (soda, tea, beer & wine available). You’re given a table marker of sorts and pick your own seating. There are a couple TVs usually playing a game but sometimes other stuff (a family-friendly movie was playing during our Tuesday evening visit). There is also a lot of art hanging on the wall (all for sale!) Our teen especially enjoyed the music which seemed mostly throwbacks to 70s and 80s. So plenty to keep you occupied while you wait for your pizza/order to be brought out to you. If you order a slice for a kiddo and ask ahead of time, they’ll cut it up into smaller pieces before bringing it out. Staff all super nice & checked on us frequently to clear away anything and offer refills.
Don’t overlook this...
