Apple Fritter Donut Shop — Restaurant in Ferndale

We stopped on Sunday March 9th, our first time. We were greeted immediately, while they were finishing with another customer. (Weird, right?) When our turn came up, the person instantly became "all about us". Again, weird... we started with the usual, I'm at a doughnut shop and there are too many options ,confused order cadence. She recognized our confusion and asked if we've been there before... 1 had, 3 haven't. She went into a quick speech about their products, top sellers, specialties and pricing. Again, weird, right? As the others are ordering, I'm making up my mind as I walk down and sit on one of the stools. And then I realize why everything feels so "weird". I'm experiencing actual customer service. In 2025. Not fake, not the usual "I'm just here to get paid" attitude you get everywhere else. I can't believe the owner is working on a Sunday ! Then, she starts the story of how she came to work there.. I'm sorry, what???? She's an employee?? I couldn't have been more shocked. She was like a professional brand ambassador. She thanked us for coming and even jokingly ended with "now you have to promise that you're only getting doughnuts from here!" I've been in sales/customer service my whole life. She. Was. Perfect. Individual personality mixed with pride for her job and company. Simply, amazing.

As a stand alone, her personality deserves 5 stars. There is no way the doughnuts live up to her. Except they do. Perfect, inventive and a reminder of what a business can be if people actually care about what they do. AND who they do it for.

First time me an my spouse bought Donuts from here we had better service. But the second time we bought Donuts from here the service was not as good. We asked for 1/2 dozen of Donuts. We picked the ones we like an paid for them. We left an got a mile away an I decided to check the box. We had only 5 donuts. We thought we had a 1/2 dozen of Donuts in our box because that's what we asked for. So I called the Donut shop to inform them of the mistake. The lady stated you got 2 apple fritters an they aren't included in the dozens. She said after you choose a donut that's not included in the dozens category we ring every donut up separately. I said you we're supposed to advise of of that so we could change our order to the donuts that were included in the 1/2 dozen. All she could say is she's sorry but that's not good customer service at all. When a customer ask for a 1/2 dozen an they pick a donut that's not included in the dozens category there suppose to inform you that donut isn't included an they'll have to ring each donut up separately. That gives you as a customer an option either to pick the donuts that are included or pay separately for each donut. But to not inform us an ring each donut up separately is wrong an it was more expensive than the 1/2 dozen would of been. So due to that we're going to try this other donut place to see how there donuts are an...

Found this gem last weekend! We live a little more than an hour from Ferndale but my husband saw a TikTok about the shop and the man loves a fritter so a spontaneous roadtrip ensued! I am so glad he saw that TikTok! The place itself is in a strip of stores and while not much to look at who cares! The sweets were amazing and the service beyond expectations! It was busy when we got there but service was quick and efficient. Something to know is I never, never eat doughnuts or fritters. Have never liked them. What I now know is I don’t like bad doughnuts because these were all delicious and now I’m a huge fan! We ordered several different kinds of fritters - apple, maple bacon, raspberry and blueberry. Also got two scones - blueberry and orange cranberry. Blueberry fritter was my husband’s favorite and the raspberry was mine. Both of the scones were perfect in taste, texture and sweetness. The staff person helping us was so friendly and welcoming and when she found out how far we drive she added a bag of four of their popular doughnut flavors for free. Very kind. They were yummy! I tried to get pictures of everything but we didn’t make it out of the parking lot before several were gone!! Highly recommend this place both for food and service.
