Mi Pueblito — Restaurant in Ferndale

We decided to try Mi Pueblito for the first time. Hubby and I were seated right away. He ordered the steak & shrimp fajitas and (of course) I wasn't sure what to get. I ended up ordering the Burrito Norteno, half with ground beef, the other half with shredded steak. We got a cheese dip for an appetizer and drinks.

The restaurant is very charming and the service was excellent. The table next to us ordered guacamole, and the guy came out with a cart and made it right at their table. That's fresh!

Our server brought our drinks right away and the appetizer directly afterward. The chips were fresh, and the cheese dip was creamy and had good flavor, although unfortunately, I cannot say the same for my burrito.

It was good but bland, not much flavor. I looked at the hot sauce, (of which there was a choice of two on the table) thinking I could spice it up a little, but I can't do hot like that anymore, so weighing the options I chose not to. It was beautiful on the plate with the rice on one side and the pureed beans on the other, but my food was not hot. I would call it tepid. I did mention it to my hubby but not the staff. I won't complain.

Hubby, on the other hand, got his sizzling fajitas but had to wait on the tortillas. The server got them as soon as it was mentioned. He enjoyed his fajitas as I picked through my meal. I did box it up to take it home, though.

All in all, it was a nice meal in which we agreed it was "average" with an exceptional service and atmosphere as we ate and watched a thunderstorm out the window.

I will be back to try the fajitas and definitely get some more cheese dip and maybe one of those margaritas that...

Food is decent, fresh guacamole is hit or miss, but when it's good it's good. I was actually surprised to see the reviews about good customer service because that has never been my experience, but maybe they only extend it to certain customers. Consistently our dine in experience was poor. Typically we went during off hours so it wasn't busy but service was slow and it seemed as though it was a bother for the "server" to take our orders. Initially I thought maybe it was an off day, but it seemed to be the case with each visit. In particular there is a younger male server, he seems lazy and could care less about the customer. Eventually I decided to take out only, avoiding the staff interaction, but never again. Last visit I went to pick up my online order and unfortunately had to interact with the same lazy male server. He said my order was still being prepared, no problem. 10 minutes later, after the estimated pick up time, still nothing. The manager even walked by me multiple times and never bothered to check in, I finally asked him to check on my order, which was ready and sitting at the back bar. I refuse to support a business that doesn't value me...

I was at your establishment on October 21st 2024 with my wife and two daughters. When we ordered we asked for no guacamole and was given guacamole. My youngest daughter ordered just a chicken quesadilla appetizer they brought her the whole meal with guacamole. We were not asked for refills on our drinks until we had already had our boxes and the check. The waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there like it was a bother to serve us. And to top it all off our bill was $91.38 and we took it to an even $100 with the tip being $8.62 because of the bad service and not getting what we asked or fixing it. I just looked at my bank statement and was charged $110. So either the waitress or somebody there took the receipt and added 10 more dollars to the bill which was not authorized! Only $100 was authorized. I called and asked to speak to a manager I was told no manager and hung up on. I emailed and have not heard back yet. I don't know about anybody else, but to me that is theft! So unless they make it right I will be contacting an attorney! I doubt we will be visiting this establishment again which we actually really liked, but I refuse to be...
