My review is based on the service, sushi and atmosphere during one lunch visit with my family.
I entered the restaurant at around noon with only 4 other occupants already eating within the establishment. The order system and location near the kitchen does not flow well and not very inviting.
Employee took my order with little hospitality or greeting, provided 18%tip since payment is required during order.
Waited 20-minutes for 2x sushi rolls on plates with no side bowls, napkins or soy sauce. Had to ask for these items. The chop sticks were very low quality. /
Sushi was fair, ingredients appeared to be purchased from large distributor since not high quality.
Restaurant appeared to be recently renovated but the details that make a Japanese restaurant unique were not considered.
Was never engaged or asked by Oyiso about my order, food or if we needed anything. (Could be a generation issue since staff appeared to be fully engaged with their mobile device)
I will give Oyiso another try in the coming weeks, hopefully they place more emphasis on quality instead of profits, quality will ultimately bring profits.
////////////////// After another try, my family and I came back to Oyiso to him them another chance, they succeeded this time with quick service and great food. I'm glad they are putting in the effort to making their restaurant a quality place to visit...
Read moreWe went at 4:00 p.m. when it wasn't busy on a weekday. We were the only ones eating there. It was quick, but extremely overpriced for the size and quality. We ordered two rolls, one salmon nigiri, and a pho.
The pho was very large. But there was very little meat and the broth had flavor but was very sweet. Ive never had pho broth be sweet. The noodles were very clumped together. Like they were previously cooked or just dropped in and not broken apart.
The rolls were $16 dollars a piece so I expected decent size. They were small and below average. Very grocery store sushi like. The Nigiri was not good salmon. And it was $6 for 2 pieces.
Most of everybody we talked to that gave it great praise, had the teriyaki or fried things. I'm sure those are good. But that's what they should stick to doing and get rid of the other things. The other reviews I've read seem similar to my experience for when you order the sushi or more obscure stuff.
$70 after tip ( you have to tip when you order) for a mediocre early dinner. Quality wise I'd be fine if this was $35, not twice that. We won't be...
Read more2.5 rounded up because they are a new restaurant in town, and I applaud them for opening. I hope they improve and do well. We got 2 sushi rolls, teriyaki chicken, and kung pao chicken. The sushi was over-priced and not great quality. My husband's French Kiss roll had so little shrimp in it that he thinks they gave him a California roll ($13). My $16 rainbow roll should have cost half that. It was skimpy on the good stuff, and underwhelming. The teriyaki chicken was okay, but priced too high. The kung pao chicken was breaded and had no peppers. Both of our entrees came with salads, and the salads (clumps of iceberg and a few shreds of carrot) had no dressing on them. The wait is too long in there to bother bringing them back. I was planning on going back to try the pho sometime, but I doubt I will. Again, kudos to Oyiso for opening a restaurant there. I hope they improve in the next few months. My husband liked the place. He's easier to...
