This is hands down the WORST sushi place I’ve ever been to. I went once before, later in the evening, and it was terrible. I figured I didn’t give it an honest try and tried it again last night.
I generally go to SUSHI PIER or TOKYO SUSHI in Reno. I live out in fallon so I wanted to see if I could find something a bit closer. Every time I do AYCE I tend to stay away from rolls, focusing mainly on SEARED TUNA, MUSSELS, and SMOKED SALMON.
All three of those things I eat very regularly, so I went and ordered my usual amount, because I had read other reviews about this place taking FOREVER to serve you.
I ordered a 12 piece MUSSEL, which tasted like they had come pre-cooked/refrozen/then cooked again with there own spice. It also has an EXTREMELY fishy taste, which isn’t super common for mussels. I tried to ignore it and I ate them anyway
Next I had a 6 piece, what they called, BLACKENED TUNA and a 2 piece UPSIDE DOWN SHRIMP. My tuna was okay, not the best, but not horrible. The shrimp was the best thing they served.
Lastly I order a 10 piece SMOKED SALMON. Smoked salmon is my favorite thing always. This was slimy and not very cold. The first bite I took, I knew it was off. I know a lot of places charge for excessive waste. After eating 3 or 4 pieces, the taste and texture were really starting to bother me...I flagged over our waitress and I told her it tasted really off.
Our WAITRESS was so nice, taking the plate away and wasn’t going to worry about it. Now the MANAGER or OWNER...who ever, not so nice. She informed the waitress that I needed to be charged full price for what was left, or I needed to eat it....
The WAITRESS came back and told me this and even offered to PAY for it herself, to which I told her OF COURSE NOT! I then told the friend I was with I wanted to leave.
I proceeded to tell the MANAGER lady that I thought it was disgusting and rude to serve people bad food and she told me I SHOULDN’T HAVE ORDERED SO MUCH FOOD. She argued with me about if it tasted bad or not, and then told me I didn’t know what I had ordered, because the salmon was smoked....WHAT?!
The entire exchange was uncomfortable for me, my friend, and this poor waitress. Then another MAN (Husband of the Manager/Owner Id assume because he had been behind the sushi bar earlier) got involved and told me I needed to pay and leave. And it didn’t matter if it was bad or not.
I paid my bill, which came to $70 (and some change) for one AYCE, a glass of house wine, sake, and one roll. (Which should have totaled about $50/55)
This place is OVERPRICED (to be serving such terrible, undersized portions) and downright RUDE. The only saving grace was that they had a good WAITRESS. I wanted to leave her her own tip just for having to deal with all of this, but of course, they all split tips. I left a smaller amount then what I normally would have, but it’s not her fault she works for a TERRIBLE BUSINESS.
I can’t stress this enough...DRIVE THE EXTRA 30min TO RENO! Do NOT waste your time, or money here. Don’t risk FOOD POISONING...
Read moreI have ate at this restaurant many times and service has always been great till tonight: we took our family there for all you can eat including two young children. Placed our order and after a half hour we received a few orders: I ordered two items and after two and a half hours nothing!!! I kept asking the server ever 20 minutes about my order and she said they were working on it. Then the server started to encore us. Then she said she through our order in the trash and my husband and son had not received any of their food. I paid 212.00 for our food and got one roll and not even the rest of our order. She was beyond rude to us for what? Me asking about our food? We had two children that were tired after sitting there for 2 1/2 hours. The server was behind the scenes talking about us, we all saw it even the couple sitting next to us who came in way after us and got their food. All we wanted was our food in less then 2 1/2 hours: we have are there sooo many times and never been treated this way. When I asked for our bill she said meet me at the counter so I did. Then she continues to go off on us. I was never rude to her, she is just the person I asked to check on our status. But she will run this place into the ground if she continues there. The owners will be informed of our very bad experience. I paid the bill, even for my all you can eat and recieved one roll. They need to have better management there. 2 1/2 hours I sat there patiently. I have never had such a bad experience in my life but this one pissed me off. It is a servers job to check on one’s order but for some reason she didn’t care: she didn’t even clear the table of the dishes. They definitely need better management if the owners are not there. First time in my 65 years of eating out have i ever been treated this way. I was hungry and wanted food in a timely Mater. We all feel they were...
