El Jalisco Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Five Forks

Update: March 17, 2024. Such a shame! Just lowered my rating from a 2 star to a one!. This place could truly be a goldmine, but the workers just don't care! Wake up you owners!!! The people you have working for you are going to put you out of business!!! THEY JUST DON'T CARE!!!! Please look at your reviews! Yeah, I know, they've all been there for 20+ years but you've got to learn how to MANAGE these people and get this place where it should be. The food is just terrible! The beer is bad too because they don't clean the tap lines! Very important detail for good beer! Please get your act together and this place will flourish! If there was any real competition in five forks you guys would be out of business. Please get it together!

Owners: Please take this feedback sincerely. I don't want to criticize, but you have so much potential being the only "real" Mexican place in five forks. Great bar area and cool looking place inside. Not sure what the problem is, but the food and service have so much room for improvement! Please taste some of the food that goes out to your customer's tables. I live in the five forks area and, unfortunately, I've only eaten here maybe four times in the last five years because the food is just mediocre. Because of this the wife and I will drive a little further to go somewhere else. It's like the cooks and staff have just given up. No real passion for cooking good, fresh Mexican food. Please go and eat at one of your competition's places and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. You guys could really pack this place every night with some serious changes. Server was kind, attentive, and respectful (the only reason this review is getting 2 stars and not 1), but the food quality was beyond disappointing aside from the salsa. I’ve unfortunately been sick in the bathroom since I ate the meal.

The ground beef tasted like canned dog food lathered with table salt, the ingredients for both my wife’s meal and my meal tasted like it was prepped days ago, and my wife gagged on the margarita because it had so much sugar in it - needless to say it definitely wasn’t fresh.

I always believe that eating someone’s food is a glimpse into their culture, their background, and their values. Unfortunately I don’t think whoever cooked our meals has any culture, nor do they have values - nor do they take any pride in their craft.

If I was a server at this restaurant, I’d be having a few words with the cooks because (knowing how most people are) there’s a good chance the cooks are robbing the servers of their tips because of their atrocious cooking skills. The food was horrible. The carne asada smelled rotten. My wife said the rice and beans was ok but my 2 year old refused to eat it ( and she usually eats everything when we go out to eat ) it’s very rare I see my daughter turn down food but she did at this place . The sprite I ordered was flat. I am from Miami ,Fl and know what Mexican food is suppose to be like. . We usually ride to Greer and visit our favorite Mexican place santanas but tried this place as we just moved to Simpsonville and was hoping to find a closer spot. No!!!
