Tonight I placed an online order for dinner at Shanghai Tokyo. In my online order I ordered what they have labeled as Cream Cheese Wonton and in the convenient little note section I write "No Crab Please" as I do not eat crab at all whether imitation or not. I drive 15- 20 minutes from my house to get said Chinese food. I go and pick it up and then drive 15-20 mins back home to feed my family. We sit down to dinner and open up one of these wontons and what do you know, there are pink flecks and I immediately grab my receipt to make sure I asked for the right thing. I did. I then call the restaurant to check to see if this was normal for a cream cheese wonton to have pink in it. The person who answered the yad no idea how this food item was prepared and while speaking to her manager explained that it is imitation crab to which I explained that I dont eat ANY type of crab. She said they don't make them in the store but the place that they order from says that its imitation crab. I asked well what can be done to rectify this situation because I have now spent money on food that we cannot eat. The response was, I can drive another 40 minutes round trip to bring the food back. That was it. Their reasoning was that some people say they dont like food, eat it, but still request thier money back. Which I get, but you cannot punish ALL customers for the sins of a few! That was definitely not the case.
This is unacceptable! This is terrible customer service! At any point during the preparation of my food they could have called and said that they do not offer a particular food item especially if a customer directly asks for something in writing. I will not patronize this store any more. You have...
Read moreIf I could give 4.5 Stars I would. 4 STARS means I like it. The service is very fast and concerned with customer satisfaction. Personnel are very friendly and polite. Food is good, prices are very fair, especially when considering the large portion size. We have dined in once and ordered carry-out once. This will now be my "go to" place for carry-out. Both times wife had broccoli chicken which she enjoyed. I had Mongolian Beef which was good. Plenty of beef (not sure what cut it was, but it was very tender), with generous quantities of green onions and yellow onions. I've also enjoyed the Sesame Chicken, Fried Rice (it could benefit from more veggies) and the Shrimp Eggrolls. Their eggrolls are very good. Dine in tables and the dining area is very clean and maintained that way. You can tell the difference between a dirty restaurant has been recently cleaned-up and one that's kept clean and not allowed to become "dirty". This place has probably never been messy. The kitchen is easily visible, many cooks at work and everything is clean...
Read moreI don't want to bash this restaurant; we have always loved ordering from here. We recently found another place we also love but they don't serve lo mien, and some other items Shanghai used to do so well. So, we still like to order from here, from time to time, as well. We hadn't for a couple months but decided to recently. They've changed significantly. The beef and broccoli and chicken and broccoli were slim on protein and HEAVY on broccoli that was undercooked. We don't like it soggy, but this was almost not edible. The beef and chicken were sliced SO thinly, not at all like it used to be. The beef looked like that which you'd buy in the freezer section to make beefsteaks... Barely any flavor to it, only flavor came from the sauce accompanying it. We understand the economy is tough, it is for patrons too. Charging over $62 for something that should have cost less than half of that for what was served was very disappointing. We know Shanghai and they can do better. We really...
