What a pleasant surprise this restaurant was. I actually got lost on my way home, and in my frustration pulled over. I decided to eat (since I was stressed..) and I saw Uncle Berto's! I am a huge taco fan, I love them! I got one chicken and one pastor (seasoned pork). Also, I got a tamale because.. Why not! (chicken). The person takes your order up front and you wait for your order number to be called. The people up front are SO nice. They helped with recommendations and gave information about the tacos. What comes on them and how they are served with their homemade gluten free corn tortillas! They also explained the salsa bar. 4 on the left are hot and 4 on the right are mild. My tacos came out pretty quickly and tasted AMAZING!! They had the typical toppings and I threw on some spicy salsa. My mouth was dancing with flavor. Next time I find myself in Simpsonville, I will go out of my way to come here again!

This place used to be our go-to spot. We have gone almost every Tuesday for months after we drop off our child at their activity. I think today was the last of my money wasted. The bean dip was cold, basically chilled before it was given to us. The young girl behind the counter was more interested in packing to-go orders than giving us our finished food off the cart. The tortillas? They were basically chips. The prices are sit down dinner prices for counter service. Fajitas Mexicana $12.99 for a very small portion and you request a tip? Come on, at least walk it out if you want a tip like they used when they were "newer". Sad to let this one go, but for $30 for two, we can dine where we don't serve ourselves, still tip and then bus our own tables.. for rock hard tortillas and cold bean dip

Food was great! We got 3 tacos and 3 enchiladas. The enchiladas were AMAZING! The tacos were good. Almost made this review 4 stars bc the side of sour cream was barely any, most of it stuck to the container like cheese, not sure if it’s a mixture or regular sour cream that has melted…it was cold tho so not sure. Every meal comes with its own chips and bean dip. The bean dip was really good and chips tasted homemade. Good thick chips. They also have a salsa bar. The pico from the salsa bar was ok, not sure if the hubby scooped nothing but onion or what but it was equal onion to tomato in the pico. I would def try this place again. They have street corn, like food truck style, definitely want to try it next time. So much variety on the menu. Friendly and patient staff as well.

I tried SO hard with Uncle Berto's Burritos, but with their new management, they have gotten our orders wrong countless times-- and we get the same thing every time! I tried to be very understanding over the phone as they forgot side dishes I'd paid for, chicken in chicken burrito bowls, but the icing on the cake was when the manager said she'd give me a $15 credit over the phone when I called them letting them know we would still eat the food we picked up, but there were items wrong and missing. I went back a few weeks later to redeem my credit and the manager insisted that there was no credit, that she was just going to refund rice. After I pushed her to use the credit, they got my order wrong AGAIN. I went up to the counter and politely let her know that she got me a burrito and not a burrito bowl (we have a gluten allergy) and she said "no, you said burrito!". I have never had so many wrong orders, and then a manager who actually told me that what I said was wrong. This is the same order we place every time we go there and I was literally reading right from my phone. 😅 We're really sad because we love the food but the service has disappointed us far too many times for us to want to spend our money there. We weren't sure if it was just us but when asking around, we heard many others with very...

I absolutely love the food! The service itself at the register is absolutely terrible. I call 10 times to get placed on hold and left on hold for 10 mins. We call back to order and we’re offered free cinnamon chips with our order as a way to say sorry for the inconvenience. I show up and they can’t find my order information and whatever they do find the meat is incorrect. I explain that we did not order pastor and was given attitude right away. After it was corrected the two women at the front speak Spanish (little do they know others know the language as well) and we’re explaining that it’s my fault that I ordered the incorrect item and ect. This alone is unacceptable in any situation but more in a food service and in front of the customer!

I have been having a few issues over the last few times we have ordered and I’m serious debating about not returning.

Previous we ordered street corn to go with our meal and was told we didn’t order street corn when we clearly ordered it in person. (I should have looked at the ticket but figured it was good)

Hopefully they can fix the phone and the misunderstandings with the orders! But most important the disrespectful bashing in Spanish...

Amending my rating from 6 years ago. This used to be my favorite place in town since it opened about 20 years ago, but now that it appears to be under new management, it seems to have gone significantly downhill.

I ordered a torta online and was called back by an employee stating they don’t have those today. I told her I didn’t want to cancel/get a refund and that I would just take a burrito with the same ingredients instead since I was driving and couldn’t look over the menu. What I ended up receiving was a half-sized container of soggy, shredded lettuce with meat and pico on top. No rice, no beans, no veggies, no cheese, nothing else. It was wet and cold. Completely disgusting. I was severely let down and honestly a little offended: there is no way taco lettuce with meat on top is a legitimate menu item. I don’t know what they served me besides some made-up “screw you” meal that’s no where close to the ingredients that come in a torta. And the most annoying part is that I paid $15 and left a tip before going home and finding out my dinner was a pile of wet garbage. I could get a better “burrito bowl”...
