Worst Calamari I have ever had! I called and Spoke with Aldo on the phone to ask about his REAL CALAMARI before I ordered it. Aldo personally assured me that his Calamari was fresh, not frozen, and cooked to perfection. So I bought two orders for take out. When I got it home, this so called fresh Calamari was so tough and rubbery I could hardly bite it. YUCK!! This Calamari looked freezer burnt and left a funky after taste. So, I called Aldo back and told him it was tough, his reply was well it s calamari, it is in fact a little tough What?!?! ((SMH)) I explained to him that I have eaten quite a bit of Calamari and If I odered it while I was dining in I would have sent them back. He then preceeded to argue with me, to which I rebutled kindly telling him maybe someone was not paying attention and had over cooked it. He got a little annoyed and told me his wife was the cook. So we agreed to try again, and I had my husband go pick it up. My husband said he was very rude, insisted they sell their Calamari by the truck load, and copped an attitude. My husband explained to Aldo, that he himself was from the west coas,t and has spent much time on the east coast. My husband went on to explain how he has eaten fresh Calamari quite a bit as well. My husband kindly described how it tasted to him as if it had been cooked and then reheated. Aldo got very indignant, took my husband back to the kitchen, and cooked up a fresh batch in front of him. (for half as long as they cooked the first) This batch was not nearly as crunchy but still very, very, rubbery. My husband brought it home which made it obvious at that point, they do in fact use frozen Calamari, from a bag. (probably purchased at Sam s club) All I wanted for my birthday was Calamari, Which is not even close to what I got.

We stopped here on Sunday, July 1st with a couple of our friends. We wanted to support a local restaurant prior to watching the fireworks, and decided on Aldo's. Our drink and appetizer orders were taken relatively quickly, but after that everything went downhill. Refills on our drinks were never offered, and when we requested them, they were not received. Our party of 4 were the only ones in the restaurant (And no one was coming in for carryout orders) yet after 45 minutes our entrees were nowhere to be found, nor was our waitress. Our orders were very simple, 2 burgers and 2 Philly sandwiches. After another 5 minutes our waitress appeared and we requested our food to go as we had been there for close to an hour at that point. Our bill was given to us, yet we STILL did not have our food. My husband got up to see if he could find anyone working to see what the problem was and was told, Oh, I don't know, I'll find our. After waiting for another few minutes we were debating on just paying for our drinks and appetizers and leaving. Someone must have overheard us because our order finally arrived. We got out to our vehicle and opened our boxes, and discovered we had been given burgers that were ice cold, burnt and completely flavorless. Like the cheap pre-formed frozen patties available in bulk at discount grocery stores. The Phillys were ice cold. The cheese used was clearly thrown on well after they were cooked as it hadn't even melted. Our bill was $120 for absolute garbage food and service. Love the place plus Aldo was so kind to let me serve to my cousin's girlfriend an alcohol drink of wine inside their wine cup because the owner name Aldo was very loving even kind to me . So I am going to see himself of me visiting whomever again on May 15 th 2023 then flying back to Florida home state wide May 24th 2023 . Plus to eat at Aldo ,and Tammy's restaurant again when I myself fly to Rockford to see whomever again for a visit from flying out of my own statewide of Florida to see whomever ,and Aldo ,and his people at their restaurant soon for when I stay at whoever's home for a visit on May 15th 2023 to come to Rockford Chicago area soon of May 15th 2023 . I really love Aldo's food really yummy . Soon to be on April 11th 2023 35 years old . Happy Easter to you all taxpayers for April 9th 2023. God bless you all .
