Roiel Scoop Rochelle's Finest Ice Cream — Restaurant in Flagg Township

First of all, when somebody else left a critical but reasonable review a while ago, the owner provided an extremely childish and unprofessional response. In case it's deleted, the gist of the review was that the ice cream is good, but the hours are bad, and this was the owner's response: Second update Zachy boy, .... apears like you are NOT HAPPY anywhere you go... Maybe you just stay home ... you know... Update reply: Another misinformed blogger with nothing better to do! As for my own review, my wife and I went here for ice cream earlier this year when it was quite new, and we had kind of a weird experience. The boy scooping ice cream just kind of stared at us until we initiated the order and never really said a word, and the lady at the cash register was not particularly polite either.

The ice cream itself was very good, though. It was kind of expensive, but it seems that pretty much all ice cream is.

They've made the place look pretty nice, but it's a bit of an unsual setup inside what I believe is otherwise a cabinetry business, and it's sort of tucked away on a side street.

I'm not from this area, but I was craving ice cream passing through the town from a trip I was on and when I walked in, it was silent, there wasn't any music playing or other customers, and it just felt very awkward. I was not greeted or smiled at by the boy that was working. He did not give recommendations or ask if I needed assistance. When I went up to the counter I asked for a scoop of zanzibar chocolate in a cone, and he stared blankly at me until I said that's all. Then the scoop he gave me was in a dish and the scoop he gave me was tiny - about half the height of the dish he served it in. I thought it's not even in a cone, and then to pay $6-7 for a scoop I could eat in 3 bites was very disappointing. I didn't say anything to him to fix it because it wasn't like I would be getting my money's worth. I finished my ice cream before I even finished paying for it and then thanked him before walking out and he didn't say anything back or even acknowledge that I said it to him. He was either unfriendly or shy, but there was no one else there and he got my order wrong. Stopped in for ice cream and was blown away with the quality and value! We were greeted warmly and treated like guests in someone's home the whole time. We wanted to try a variety of flavors so got the "flight" of 4 small scoops for $8. Each one was amazing by itself but all four together was perfect. We stop at lots of ice cream shops all over the country and honestly this is in the top tier. Don't pass it by - stop in and treat yourself!
