A Hidden Gem: Delivers on Flavor, Value, and Freshness Finding a truly exceptional restaurant is a rare treat, and Mt Athos in Arizona is precisely thatāa hidden gem that exceeded all expectations. This family-owned Greek spot offers an experience that's as authentic as it is delicious, making it a must-visit for anyone craving incredible food without breaking the bank. From the moment we walked in, the service was attentive and welcoming, setting a pleasant tone for our meal. But it's the food that truly shines here. The quality and freshness of every ingredient were evident, a testament to the care put into each dish. My wife raved about her veggie pita, highlighting its vibrant flavors and generous fillings. Our son, a discerning burger critic, declared his hand-pressed burger the best he's ever hadāa bittersweet moment for me, as I pride myself on my own burger-making skills, but ultimately a joyous one seeing his pure enjoyment. My falafel pita was equally outstanding, with perfectly cooked falafel and a pita that was incredibly soft and fresh. The fries were piping hot and crispy, though honestly, the pitas are so substantial and filling that I might skip the fries next time to save room! Even the water and ice were refreshingly clean-tasting, a small but significant detail in Arizona where that's not always a given. One of the most surprising aspects was the incredible value for the price. For a family of three, including dessert, our bill came out to a mere $60. In today's economy, that's an absolute steal, especially considering the generous portion sizes and the sheer quality of the food. It truly made the cost "not sting so bad," as the deliciousness overshadowed any thought of the price. Despite its undeniable quality, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet during our visit, which honestly shocked us given how fantastic everything was. The only minor drawback we encountered was the parking, which was a bit of a hassle. However, this is a small inconvenience when weighed against the overwhelming positives. We left feeling completely stuffed and utterly satisfied, already planning our next visit. Mt Athos is easily a five-star experience in our book, a place where you'll find incredible food, exceptional value, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. We'll definitely be back for more! Oh and they have a full bar in case that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I enjoy Greek food and while traveling in the area were drawn to this restaurant by the great reviews. We stopped for lunch and were seated quickly. The restaurant is pleasant inside but has no decorations or anything to make you feel you are eating in a Greek Restaurant.
My husband ordered one of the specialty burgers and I ordered the gyro sandwich. Since the only choice for a side with my gyro was coleslaw and I donāt eat mayo, I upgraded to a Greek salad with my sandwich (offered as an option for additional price of $5.50). My husbandās hamburger looked well prepared and he enjoyed it along with the French fries and cole slaw that came with his meal. My sandwich was large, loaded with meat and tzatziki sauce and very hard to pick up and eat. A bit too messy. The sandwich was good but not great. The Greek salad had a lot of romaine stalks in it and not much green lettuce. It was just okay. With the high reviews I expected the menu to have more interesting items, especially Greek food. It didnāt seem very inspiring. I think I noted just one pasta dish as well. Menu items were also on the expensive side for what was received. Our server, a young man was quite inattentive. He never really gave us full attention. A table near us had at least six women dining and that is where he spent his time serving. I love baklava and had wanted to try some for dessert or perhaps another item, but we were never asked if we wanted something else, and due to the slow and inattentive service, thought it best we move on. We donāt plan to return to this restaurant. For the high prices and menu items offered, along with iffy service, would not be worth...

This place is GreekāD out from the greeting of the hostess, server, owner, and lightly played music in the background. Beautiful restaurant, quaint, and It was Greekin awesome for a family night. There is a bar there too that we may check out in the future.
Excellent service, atmosphere, and delicious food. I ate the daily special: pork chops $20.79 (nice and tender meat, side salad-house dressing was good, note: menu has a different special everyday) with carrots that had a nice sweet savory taste and some hot steak fries seasoned to perfection, not too salty. Nicoletta (apologies if misspelled), our server, was pristine in checking up on us! even though she didnāt know the sauce that the cooks made with the Pork chop, I asked her to please get me a side of it and she put a rush on it!
My folks had the gyro platter (love the rice!) and the spicy gyro w/onion rings (picture) and they all loved itāespecially with that Tzatziki sauce. Pita was served nice and hot.
Dessert: server provided options from memory since there was no menu for it and we took her favorite/recommendation which has a very āgreek nameā as Nicoletta put it and it tasted delicious (pictured) doughy pastry that was delicate, warm, and not too sweet with some cream. I couldāve eaten a whole one by myself but we ordered two plates and server cut it up for us 4 ways to share. It was DIVINE!
They wished us a happy new year on the way out and YES! Thank you-we will definitely be...
