La Palma Restaurant — Restaurant in Florence

I cannot accurately rate the food, because I have never eaten there. Since moving into town after the Chinese restaurant left...the prices aren't favorable for these parts, quite frankly. At least not coming into town with those prices-establish your business with lower prices initially to build reputation within the community-and Florence is ALL ABOUT community. Anywho, I visited because I was working my side hustle. The inside is very welcoming and decorated with expertise decor. Very clean as well. Unfortunately, due to the horrendous customer service by the young Asian-American girl at the front counter, I refuse to spend a red cent in there-even if they offer more affordable dining. Seriously. Humans seems to be diminishing in genuinely connecting with other humans nowadays. I wasn't greeted and after seeing my professional attire for the pickup, she rarely spoke a word, eye-contact was ever elusive, and when asked for the customer's receipt-I was forced to ask for a stapler or piece of tape to attach to the order. It seemed to be a grave inconvenience for her to provide me with what I needed to provide exceptional customer service to our shared customer. No name tag 😒. The front counter-where 1st impressions are made-might not be the proper place for her in establishing this business. Getting back to her cellphone became quite obvious was the most important...

The place is small so seating is limited. Staff were friendly and service was good. My wife ordered the ribeye and I had chicken fried steak. Mine was tasty but underwhelming. Small steak - looked to be about 4 ounces. Enough gravy to barely cover the steak. And no meat in the gravy. There are way better, and less expensive, options right in town. Mac and cheese was oily and the corn was obviously from a can with no seasoning apparent. The asparagus was nearly raw. The ribeye was the biggest disappointment. Looked to be about 1/8 inch thick and under seasoned, yet somehow managed to cook it medium rare so hats off to the cook for that! Still not worth the $28.00 price tag. Saturday night, two weeks ago. Me and my Fiance sat down and received complimentary chips. The chips were amazing with dipping sauce on the side! The two girls waiting on us were the best! very attentive! We ordered the Bacon Chipotle and Chicken Alfredo. This was definitely a hit. Chefs kiss on the Bacon Chipotle. Large portions and pasta was perfectly cooked! Delicious! We took home two slices of desserts! I’m so glad they’re here.
