Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Florence

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I've only been mildly irritated before, order slightly wrong, taking longer than expected to get food, getting 7 tots in my regular size order. I don't generally write negative reviews or complain about fast food restaurants because expectations are low. But my experience today was ridiculous.

I pulled in to a stall to order. After pushing the button 3 times with no response and waiting over 5 minutes, someone came out to tell me that stall was broken. There was no sign up, and none was put up after this. Someone did take my order on paper.

Fast forward thirty +minutes and I still didn't have my order. I should have just left like the several other people I noticed abandon their orders, but I had a screaming toddler who I had promised a corn dog, and I was starving at this point. (We were getting "fast food" because I had ran out of time to cook for myself.)

I went to the window to check on my order and when the girl brought it out, the drink was melting, so I'm not sure how long it had been ready? I asked to speak with a manager because I felt I'd been waiting far too long. (I have NEVER asked to speak with a manager before, lest you think I'm someone who just likes to complain.)

I explained my situation to the manager and said I thought thirty minutes for a corn dog and small burger was a ridiculous wait. Instead of offering a discount or even an apology, she told me they are understaffed and it wasn't their fault. I told her if they are understaffed they should explain to people when they order that the wait may take much longer than expected.

She said the best she could offer was to cancel my order and throw my food away. At this point I was mostly furious not to even be offered an apology for my ridiculous wait time. So I walked off. I will absolutely not visit this location again, and would suggest if you've been waiting what feels like too long for your food that you just leave and go somewhere else. Or better yet, drive the extra few miles to a different sonic location or pick a different...

Do not go to this Sonic unless you want to leave empty handed! We went to get milk shakes one day last week and waited in line for 35 minutes just to be handed the wrong shakes. They made them a second time, again wrong. They told us to pull forward (waited another 10 min) and then the manager proceeded to tell us how she hasn't been equipped with what she needs to make the store run right and to give them another chance. So the next week we go back get to the drive through and before we can order they say, "Sorry can't hear pull around". 25 min later we get to the window and they say, "what was your order?" Seriously!! So I tell them what they want and they hand us our order and we are never asked to pay. Looking back, no one before us ever paid either!!

We went after being at the pool all day on the Saturday before Fathers Day and I was so excited to see NO LINE!! I get to the place to order and she says Oh Sorry our grill just caught on Fire, but I can make you a Corn Dog! How much bad luck can a store have!? Since then we have gone for drinks to be told their curb side ordering speakers no longer work and it will be a while till they can help us, to a friend going and there being a sign saying sorry closed due to no manager! So if you go just know you will leave with an incorrect order or one that had to be remade more than once, a nice 30-45 minute wait in line, or even that the Ice cream machine is broken, or they simply closed due to lack of capable employees!!

Never been to this sonic location before, was looking for a new place to go too where we could take advantage of the weather today and realized Sonic was the purrfect place to be. I ordered tots and a pretzel and my friend ordered a combo. Did you know 44oz slushies were a thing? 🤣 I definitely wasn't taking how many ounces that truly is into consideration but it was great. I wasn't sure if they would mix two together, but they did without a second thought. Food was hot, I think the machine hated me for the card reader though so I felt bad to ask the waitress bringing the food if she could run my card inside. I was hanging out with a friend I hadn't seen in a while and next thing we new, we sat there from like 1 to 4... Waitress came to ask if we needed anything and I thought it was odd, but we definitely lost track of time. Thankfully I don't think we messed up business for them at least and hogged a car port... At least I hope not! 😫 I haven't been to any sonic in a few years so definitely will be back, probably need a smaller size slushy, 44oz aren't no...
