Firstly let me say the new location is amazing, better atmosphere better parking, better seating etc etc. The place looks amazing with the floor and painted walls and entry way. So much better than the old place. Menu is 100 times better, with pictures and overall placement to attract your eyes this place looks like jon taffer rescued it. The addition of a liquor license and bar now provides that last missing piece. The cool thing with la torta loca is their cuisine. A combination of mexican and venezuelian. Two great food choices all on one menu. They were pretty busy but after 16 min wait we were seated and our server was really good despite being slammed. The kitchen was slow however, took a while for food to come out and did not come out at once. It was pretty tasty but the carnitas empanda and machata empanadas was a bit dry. This has never been the case in the past so perhaps it was just over cooked this time. The chicken and cheese and carne asada and cheese empanadas were amazing though. Not sure if it was just the cheese that did it or what, but so much flavor. I am bit big on cheese but these will be ordered everytime from now on. Drinks we pretty good. Good display, nothing over the top and not super strong but good flavor. On a 1 to 10 I'd put the drinks at a 5 maybe 6. Now the price. Food was what it's always been so it was expected, I think a buck or two cheaper here and there but prices are pretty much the same as every other place with this cuisine. The drinks however below me away. 10 bucks each got a bill almost double what I expected. If it were top shelve ok, but for house drinks at their size and the fact after 3 I wasn't even feeling them, 10 is a bit over priced. Would stuck with sprite had I known. That is my only negative comment which really isn't negative as the bar is new and its such I nice addition and compliment to the food, so maybe just settle in on a better scale for drinks, like maybe 6 for the ones I had would be more idea. Over all I do recommend a visit, I recommend a weekday night if you want it a bit more quiet, else the weekend is much more lively and louder a place you can kick back and have some laughs. Oh they have some tvs too if you want to watch the games or something. We will visit again and more so now that it's closer...
Read moreMy wife and I were in the area and saw this very highly rated restaurant. We absolutely love Mexican food, especially street tacos and Birria, so when we saw that this place offered all of this we immediately decided to go here.
I want to start by saying I’ve never tried a Torta in my life. I usually gravitate towards tacos and burritos, however, my wife and the waitress both convinced me to try a Torta. It was one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made as I am now a massive fan of Tortas. I originally thought it would just be like a normal sandwich. However, this is no sandwich, the bread is so good and soft, unlike anything I’ve ever had. The Torta I had was El Guarro, which came with carnitas, jalapeños, onions and lime. I requested to add cheese as this is something that’s normally put on a Torta. My wife ordered two al pastor tacos and two Birria Tacos with a side of consommé.
All the food was prepared fresh and tasted very very good. Everything was hot and jam packed with flavor. My Torta was such an amazing experience, and much more than a sandwich. It was like driving a 69 VW Beetle on a beach in Cancun. Spicy, salty, savory and delicious.
I could go on. But I can die happy knowing I had some of the best Mexican food ever here. Great experience. Would come back in a second...
Read moreWow!!! In from Ohio for a quick getaway, we dined in at this place due to the many glowing reviews. Thank you all -- SPOT ON!
I ordered the very popular LaTorta Loca. As I don't eat pork, the very nice gentleman who waited on us said it was no problem to make it without the pork or bacon. I can say it was fantastic...and huge. I like to eat but this one could have been split between my wife and me. My wife ordered the LaPeulua arepa. I tried a bite and it was tasty as well.
As a starter, we had chips and pico de gallo. The chips: I agree with a news review I found: best we've had. The pico de gallo: the same - a perfect blend of veggies which included jalapenos. Admittedly, the free sauces on the table (4 of them) would have been enough for the chips but I am still very pleased we ordered the pico.
The place is small so get there early! We arrived at 4:40 on a Saturday and all tables were filled in short order. Yet, food comes out fast and it is worth the wait.
My only small knock is that the pricing on the menu didn't match what was rung up. The food was so good, I didn't even waste the time asking about the small difference but would advise checking. Regardless, I would go back again in...
