La Hiro has become our go to sushi place. We were very sad when Miyoshi closed up shop but also glad that we found La Hiro after restaurants opened up again. We haven’t dined in because they are only open for lunch on the weekend. We regularly get to go dinners at La Hiro and quality is always top notch. I have tried close to 10 sushi places in NKY and for us, La Hiro has the best quality sushi especially when getting to go orders. Most places scrimp on the serving size and quality for to go orders but that’s not the case with La Hiro. The woman owner is gracious and always nice. No surprise there really. I’m sure the chef/husband is the same but I’ll be back of the house too if it was a two-person show.
Sashimi is always buttery and appetizers are, well, very appetizing. I normally don’t get “fancy” sushi but that’s just my preference. Sashimi and nigiri is my jam. I’m from the west coast and La Hiro can hold its own to sushi restaurants there. Not quite the same as the sushi in Japan but still great food! I think 7/11 sushi in Japan is better than most to go sushi places in NKY anyways.
Overall, I would recommend this place. The only thing that can be improved is if they served lunch some days of the week 🤣 I’ll try to convince her one...
Read moreI’ve been there once for take out. The waitress was rude. She looked unhappy because we have two babies and we took them into the restaurant.( I am not sure) I went there again two days ago because my friend he is grow up in Japan and he loves Japanese food. He made a reservation before we were there. Me and my two babies arrived there earlier than my husband and our friend. When I got in the store, the woman waitress was unhappy face again and she told me they have another 3 customers. ( no one in the restaurant when I arrived.) I have no idea why she told me that ? And I told her we had reservation, she sighted and said we don’t have high chairs. Every time she came to serve us, she had poke face. But when other customers came, she smiled to everyone. I have no idea anything I did was wrong and why she treat us so bad. It was the worst experience in my life. And I won’t visit there again. Same as other customers said, I thought she doesn’t like Asian except for Japanese. ( Because when our friend spoke Japanese to her, she looks happier than talked to us, her face grew gray pretty fast) The food not bad , but not deserve to spent anytime there. There are some Japanese restaurants around this area better...
Read moreA hidden gem that beautifully blends authentic Japanese sushi with dreamy desserts!
La HIRO instantly charmed me with its cozy and peaceful vibe—soft lighting, minimalist decor, and touches of Japanese art that set a calming tone. The food? Truly memorable.
🍣 The sushi and sashimi were top-tier—fresh, thick-cut, and beautifully plated. The grilled unagi was rich, flavorful, and drizzled with just the right amount of sweet soy glaze. 🍰 The matcha cake blew me away—light, airy, and not overly sweet, with hints of red bean layered in. A perfect pairing with their fresh-brewed green tea. 🍶 We also enjoyed a lovely sake and tea service that added to the relaxed, refined experience.
Service was warm, genuine, and unrushed—exactly what you’d want in a place like this. Bonus points for their cake fridge—it’s hard to resist taking a slice or two to go!
If you’re craving sushi and sweets in one spot (and done right), La HIRO is a must-visit. I’ll...
